|  Not including online money-making projects, what do you do to earn money from home? I buy abandoned self-Storage Units and sell the contents at yard sales and flea markets. I also love to crochet and sell my items at local craft bazaars. What do you do and how long have you been at it?

| |  I wish I could make some money at home. I applied at a call center and have yet to hear from them. I'm thinking of selling some things on eBay, bt that would nt be a permanent thing. I wuld like to find either a parttime call center or virtual assistant position.

| | I have done ebay and I can tell you that it is hard to make a profit! The ebay and paypal fees really take a chunk out! It can be fun, though. Now I usually just sell collectible type items that I find. I sold an old, beat-up Cheech & Chong lunchbox for $23 that I would probably have been lucky to get a dollar for at a rummage sale! Vintage stuff from the 60's and 70's often fetch a good price. | | | |

| |  I have a few things online I do, but what I do offline is buy books from thrift stores and yard sales and resell them. I resell them at several bookstores in town and also on ebay.
I am curious about your storage unit idea! How do you go about finding the abandoned ones? And how much do you usually have to pay for one? Thanks!

| | Just call all the self-storage businesses in your area and ask if they hold auctions. Some will put you on a list and let you know when they have the auctions and some will advertise in the classified section of the paper. I have bought units for as little as $35 and as much as $225. Most of them will go in the $100 range. It really depends upon the size of the unit, what can be seen (because you usually aren't allowed to go in a look around, just look from the open doorway), and how many other people are bidding on that unit. It's really a lot of fun. You find a lot of books in them sometimes! I know they are often good ebay sellers, especially children's books.

| |  I buy wholesale products and sell them online and at flea markets. I also use select drop shipping sources and sell their goods on eBay. Jewellery is a big item and I sell a lot to local friends. I also sell ebooks online of my research over the years that I've accumilated regarding reliable wholesale and dropshipping companies.

| | I tried some jewelry dropshipping with ebay but wasn't getting much business. A year ago I had bought a closeout lot that sold pretty well. Jewelry does generally sell well, though, I've even had good luck with used jewelry. And lots of junk jewelry and parts sell well too as craft supplies. Good luck to you! | | | |

| |  i get alot of coral and beach items from my partner who works at sea. i am quite crafty and i like to create beautiful arty centrepices wall hangings with them... right now i dont sell them but people have expressed interest. My only problem is prices as it takes so long on each piece it is hard to know what they are worth

| |  I work as a bookkeeper 40 hours a week and I hate it!! I had my own resturant before that and loved being my own boss. So, now I have started my own business at home and hope to quit the day job by july 7th this year. I have the ebay store thing going and your right with the fees its more for fun then profit. I also have two online stores. One is a dropship supported store, and the other is a business I got into that I do home parties live home interier parties, and have a small store in my home. Its taking time to get it going but I am possitive. I also make crafts and sell them via flea markets and yard sales. I plan weddings and parties also. So I stay busy.

| | The average unit goes for about $100-%150 but we have paid much less, and a little more. It really depends on the unit and how many people are bidding on it. There are a lot of auctions around here when the weather is warmer, but not too many in the winter. They can be great money makers! The last unit we bought we paid $100 for and I sold one item out of that unit (an antique singer sewing machine) for $105 on ebay, so we basically made our money back on one item! We probably made about $200 profit on our investment, and I still have a bunch of rummage-sale type stuff left over for this spring, and have given a lot of it away to a family who had a fire and to the local thrift shop. It really is a great way to make money, and help others out also! | | | |
