I remember seeing my Mother-in-Law the on my wedding dress, nicely clothed in a black dress. In response to my question..."What the heck is that thing?" she replied, "A dress to celebrate the last nail in my coffin." Needless to say, the relationship was a bit rocky at the time. Anybody else have anything strange happen on their wedding day???

I 'm not yet married but I wonder how a mother in law will do such a terrible thing on the day of her son's wedding! Maybe I'll need to get close to my mother -in-law before the wedding to allay her fears that her son is safe and is still hers!

actually, my mother in law AND my mom wore a black dress to our wedding. i am the one who picked out their dresses. i find black to be very formal and beautiful. i didnt intend for it to be symbolic in any way. i just wanted them to look and feel good. and they did. at first they kept questioning my choice "are you sure? this isnt supposed to be a depressing day..." my mother in law said this wasnt a sad day for her, that she was very happy that i was becoming part of the family and my mom said the same about my husband, but then they realized that i didnt care what the color meant. they looked great!

You are right to think that she didn't like you very much. But since she showed up on your wedding day, it means that she's still hoping that things will turn out right. Besides, black dress can also be worn on special and formal occasions, this is the original concept of fashioning beautiful black dresses actually. If taken at this angle, her appearance in a black dress is quite okay.

I would have been so upset if my mother in law did that. We had an outside wedding and it rained all the way up until about an hour before the wedding and everyone had to dry off the seats. It did not rain during the wedding though. That is what I get for having an April wedding huh?
