i never tried a gibson v model but i did have a dean
for awhile.god,it had beautiful tone to it.
pickups sucked tho-had changed them out for di marzio's.

Unfortunately, the Gibson Flying V is a discontinued guitar. Michael Schenker (one of the original founders of The Scorpions with his older brother, Rudolf) seems to have endorsed a relatively unknown brand of guitars that make their flying Vee's (Dean Guitars). I don't know if it is some kind of partnership between Michael & the guitar maker or if he actually is maybe one of their biggest customers.

As i read Dean guitars in your post scarlet women, doesn´t Dave Mustaine play a kind of Flying V model from that guitar brand? i think so.

It is a possibility, Mike. On the website for Dean guitars, there is a list of musicians who regularly use Dean guitars.

BTW, on another note - if I was to have a guitar dropped on my toes, I'd rather that it be a Fender because it won't hurt as much as a Gibson.

Yeah... LOL hope you are not talking from own experience, haha. I never had a Flying V model in my hands i wonder how it feels sitting at home and practicing on it. I think the Firebird is a great Gibson model in guitars a friend of mine has one, awesome.

ps. About Dean guitars yes i found a video on Youtube, Dave Mustaine presenting his new Dean guitar at the NAMM show 2007. As he get´s asked what he thinks about it, he replays: "awesome, i can´t wait to beat up someone with this guitar" ...LOL.. he´s so damn funny in that video.

he's in love LOL

i know people who complain of the weight of the bodyform-
some have switched to hamer-it's not quite the same,tho slightly similar in shape it is a much lighter guitar i'll give them that

wooohhhh... a SG doubleneck, that must be a heavy load to carry. I remember John Mc´Laughlin from the Mahavishnu Orchestra played mostly one in their concerts or even great Jimmi Page. I think one day if i have the money i get me a normal SG model to have a second guitar that has a different sound to the Strat i have. They are very expencive her in germany as all Gibson guitars.

Hello, you said $ 1500 that´s a very good price you know what... i tell you this in Germany i saw this guitar in a store and it coasts 3900 € (Euro) that´s about $ 4800, that´s just ridiculous, who would pay that much for a SG doubleneck. The funny thing besides is that on a website from that store it said you save 740 € if you order, so the normal price would be 4640 €, imagine that price just for a guitar. I paid about 1000 € for my Fender Strat i think that was enough money. Here´s a pic for you.

yea-he got a steal on that SG,i've seen it for much more
a lot of times they don't come with the case anymore you have to buy it separately.
either that,or they give you a gig bag if anything.
i really wouldn't put a guitar i valued in a gig bag.
i'd be afraid of something happening to it.

Oh... it´s sadly not from the 50´s.. LOL

i bought it in 2002. It´s built similar to the ones from the 50´s bought with some better modifications, like it come swith Texas Special pickups, which are much better then the regular ones built in a American Standard Strat.
Also it has special mechanics which put more tension especialy on the higher strings and some more. I bought a lot of guitars in the past 19 years but that´s the best i ever got. Befor i had a low price Fender Strat which was really rotten but it was cheap and i didn´t have much money for spending on guitars that time. I just don´t understand why we in Germany have to pay such more money for them then in the U.S. Do you play guitar for longer?

I'm thinking the reason it costs more in Germany is maybe they make it in the United States or elsewhere, & then it gets imported into Germany?

Ok, yes sure i´m not a idiot it´s normal to pay more for imported stuff but we pay far to much for music instruments here in Germany. Also if i look into theFender.com site to read up their price lists the page doesn´t show up for me. well i had another try but it doesn´t work maybe i do someting wrong, just a blank page shows up. But i would just be interested in how much a regular American Stratocaster would coast in the States.

ps. as you said you also play bass, do you play in a group?
and by the way my 5 year younger brother plays bass guitar and we play together for long time now.

Wow... is that the American standard model? that´s a high price for it, or is it a special model. I think that´s a good price for the Robert Cray model, i know it´s sold for about 850 € here in Germany (that´s about $1060).

Oh yes... the Malmsteen signature model is great, i had it once in my hands but i´m not used to scalloped fretboard. It also features some similar to the model i have, like the colour vintage white i really love. Alder body, maple neck & fingerboard & american syncronized tremolo bridge. The price was about 2000 € that´s a lot, double price for the one i own.

i was amazed it was 17 years old-he's taken good care of it

Last time I looked at Gibson or Fender guitar sites, they did not show their prices. I actually had to do searches for prices from various guitar sellers. My conclusion is that they don't sell guitars individually. They only sell/ship to distributors or musical equipment sellers.

I think I may have an original, but cant be sure, I do know that the guitar is really old. I purchased it second hand about 15 years ago...got a good deal on it as well. Every now and then I'll go searching to see if the guitar is worth anything, but no luck thus far...thanks for the site on the comic books...cant get the hubby off the puter now..lol

If you share the computer, & want him off of it so you can get on, try singing in your WORST voice. It might just annoy him enough to get him off the computer so he could have some peace & quiet.

those are the two most accurate ones..although the market fluctuates by demand and what people are willing to pay.
tho some comics,especially the first issue,you could auction and practically name your own price.
like detective comics #1-i think that's up to 5 figures now..

i agree-an ex of mine used to play hamer also-
the pickups seemed very similar to those of gibson,
they surprised me how well they took distortion.
i can't remember if his were entirely stock,but i think they were.he had a habit of changing them out on most of them.

epi's are nice.a friend of my just bought an ace frehley model epiphone.
