Help with Metaphors. / myLot

i am helping my son with a book report and no matter how many times i look up metaphors i cannot find them in my sons book. he cannot find any either. does anyone have any ideaas on how to find metaphors?

The main idea is you should this of a metaphor like a comparison without the words "is like" (an example that comes in my head now is "snow, that flour falling from the sky, is ... "). thanks, i hope this helps, i understand it now, but when i look for them, the only ones i can find are with like or as. uggghhhh
