Have you ever wanted to work at that big firm in town? Do you want to get into a vitamin business but haven't the experience? Want to learn taxes? Do you just want a job fast?
Being a receptionist opens the doors to a land of opportunity!
Can you answer a phone?
Do you have a nice smile?
Are you good with people?
Then this is the perfect time for you to try getting a job as a receptionist.
Reception pays low to high ranges. It depends on the service, the type of business, and the level of dress. A Fortune 500 Law Firm will ask for high conservative, business-like dress. A doctor's office will require a white lab coat or uniform.
A library will require neat and clean studious dress.
But getting the job is the easiest part. Now you've got to prove that you're friendly, smart, detail oriented, that you like helping others, and that you can grasp the business that you work for. Being able to generate phone number sheets and informative extension lists will be helpful. Not busy enough? Ask for work.
Sooner than later, someone will notice you, and you will be asked if you'd like to work elsewhere in the company. Have your professional resume ready, and go get 'em, tiger!
**I know, I was a receptionist at several companies who hired me into better positions within a year long period. It's always been my little trick for getting my foot in the door.
Try it sometime!
