|  how easy is it to install computer memory? i would really rather install it myself cuz im low on cash is it that easy to do? i have an ibm pentium 3 pc 300 pl any suggestions for that type of pc or know of a website i can go to to learn the different pc parts and how to do certain things?

| |  If it's a P3, you should be looking for a pc-100 or pc-133 SDRAM, I recommend Kingston or Corsair for the brand. For the website, I think helpwithpcs.com provide a decent directions for this. Howstuffswork.com is another referrence. I hope this helps!

| |  Look for the memory brand that is already installed in your computer. Some pentium 3 systems tend to be choosy when it comes to their memory based on my experience. I ended up buying a lot of sd-ram memory. Just a couple of thoughts when purchasing sd-ram
1)use the same brand
2)use the same capacity. Some motherboards tend to be choosy. I bought 256mb and a 64mb and all it could detect at times was the 256mb.
3)use the same speed like all should be pc-100 or pc-133. If you choose one ram and the other ram is much faster than the other then your computer will set all your ram to the ram that has the lowest speed.

-check it out if you use operation system Windows xp professional you should use 256mb...I don't know which is the your operation system that you use.if you use Windows xp professional you should use 256Mb or 512mb.no problem...do you know say me how many slots of memories have your motherboard?

| | -so if your motherboard have 2 slots...you should put 2 module 256Mb in slots..never use a module of 256mb with other of 512mb..use exctaly 2 modules equal in slots..remenber your computer only support 512mb..don't try put 1gb...your motherboard isn't able support 1gb...

| |  Your next upgrade would be a new motherboard, cpu and RAM and proberbly power supply. That will give you a really good increase in speed and also get you USB2.0 and maybe Firewire. You can still use your old case, DVD/CDROM, floppy, hard drive, keyboard, mouse and speakers.
PC100/133 RAM is more expensive than modern DDR RAM now as it is going back in ancient history!!
Ref your previous query, no, you cannot add RAM slots to your motherboard.
