Okay does this ever bother you? When you are going through a discussion and find that the person that wrote it doesn't know any good grammer? I can't stand this then you kinda have to guess at what they are trying to say its sooo annoying. Okay may be I'm just nit picking cause i had a bad day but i can't help it.

Understanding that mylot is a global community, it goes without saying that we have members here where English is not their first language, including me. In fact, I salute everybody who are here who try their best to express their opinions in the best way that they can. I understand how grammatical errors, misspellings, and awkward sentence constructions can be annoying to those who considered themselves proficient with the language. But just as we forced ourselves to watch a baby learning how to walk without doing the walking for them, so we shall extend the same patience to all our English-learning friends.

Very well put wayz. I sure wish I could express myself as well in Portuguese...the language I now use 24 hours a day. Living in Portugal for almost 30 years I have had to speak and write Portuguese. Joining myLot has given me a chance to "brush up on my Shakespeare", as the song goes.

I'm with you. I know you'll get flack because it sounds like you are against those that do not live in English speaking countries. But some people DO live in English speaking countries and there is no excuse. Still yet, people in foreign nations KNOW how to spell, but use 8 or 2 or B or kl when they know very well what the proper words are. I don't want to discourage ANYONE from posting. I'm just saying IF you happen to know better, than DO better.

Those of us who use English everyday have no problems which is why we should be tolerant with those who is not fluent. Put yourself in their shoes. If you found a good site and wanted to practice your Spanish, or any other language, wouldn't you want them to be tolerant as well. I take my hat off to those who have the courage to try to put their thoughts into another language. When I first learned Spanish others had to put up with my bad grammer but as long as I got my point across it didn't matter.

The problem is that some of the people with the bad grammar, DO speak English as their every day language. They just don't take the time to think, or they just don't care. Or they simply do not check their spelling!

I felt that way at first but than I started to go into their profiles and realized that alot of them are just learning english and are not from our countries....I give them the benefit of the doubt and try to figure out what they are trying to say.....take a deep breath and your time,it feels good when you can help people not from your 'country'
