Nosferatu is a vampire character from a silent movie in 1922 and remade in 79'.

nosferatu comes from a greek word meaning "plague carrier", the movie character was always with rats, who carried plague to the town he was in.

nowadays..its basically a vague term for a vampire, instead of actually referring to the movie.

Nosteferatu is the term used for the undead, ie. Vampires or Vampyre as Dracule, or Dracula, the Legendary Count Vlad, drank the blood and became undead, he was cursed to drink blood to survive and he could turn into a bat. Bram Stoker, wrote the book Dracula and from that it has transversed the globe as a ghost story to frighten children:D and adults.
The story about Dracula is actually a love story, legend has it that his girl friend was told that Count Vlad was dead. This was a lie but she threw herself from the castle and died. When the Count returned to hear she was dead he was furious.
He denied the church, and drank blood, he then became undead.

What people do not realise is that the idea of infected blood by a vampire and becoming undead was actually Bram Stokers way of dealing with a terrible disease that had affected men and women, a veneral disease called syphilis. Of course Bram Stoker knew that writing a book about syphilis and its rate of infection would not get very far, so instead he wrote Dracula.
The blood of a mortal is infected by Dracula when he bites the neck and drinks the blood.
The comparison here is that the blood of an infected man was impure and that disease spread rapidly.

I was disappointed that the name nosteferatu is rarely mentioned when I googled but you can discover more about vampires here.
