Does your child have a tv, computer, stereo in his or her room?

As kids grow up they see their friends getting all sorts of stuff put into their room. A friend of my daughters has everything that you could ever want like a dvd player, stereo, tv, lap top, etc...in her room...she has had this since the age of 8!!
To me, either the parents don't want to have to deal with her, they feel bad because they don't have enough time to spend with her or they are just bad parents and the kid is spoiled...
What do you think?

My daughter is only 8 and she has a radio in her room. She asked for a tv but I told her no. I didn't have one when I was a kid either because I don't want her to get in the habit of shutting herself away in her room and not being with the family. We have more than 1 tv so if she wants to watch something different she can. As far as a computer in her room. That won't ever happen. With all the scary things that happen to kids online the computer will always be out in the family room.

My son has a television in his room and we got a Nintendo 64 for free that we gave to him to play when he has friends over, it is raining, or we are just very busy. He also has lots of movies to be used for the same purpose. We keep a fairly close watch on the amount of time he spends with those. Now that it is still a little cold out I am ok with him doing indoor activities like that more. Once it is nice out he will not be allowed to watch as much television or play as many video games. I won't force him to play outside or anything but his options will be more limited inside when it is warm outside.
He will be allowed a stereo or more likely just a radio alarm clock as he gets older as long as he can keep the sound down. We live in a semi-detached home and noise travels too easily for him to be able to get away with loud music. I am definately not against music- I have been known to turn it up during a cleaning day and enjoy. If he decides that he would want to play loud music at night i would simply take it away from him.
I think that the list you have made is just too much for a young child or even a teen. Her parents have given her every excuse to be lazy and anti-social.
I am definately going to be careful that I don't spoil my son in that same way. Sometimes you think you are doing a good thing and you are not.

Some parents simply think that they are doing their best for their child - they do not think that they could harm them by giving them everythin! My children have a computer in their room but no tv or anything! We can and do monitor their computer usage! Sometimes kids do need some time away from their parents so that they can sort out their fellings about their day in their own head!

I dont think that kids who have everything are lucky. Sometimes those things make bad influence and the kids turn out to be bad too. Some parents who spoil their child with everything turn out to be not good parent.
My kids just have a tv in their room. The computer is not placed in their room.
