Have you ever baked dog cookies yourself?  

Well, even these dog cookies contain wheat flour and many other ingredients that dog's cannot digest very well. They were not meant to eat foods such as wheat, like us humans. Dogs CAN eat it but it's not good for them, they don't get any nutritional value from these because they don't need it. If you want to reward your doggie then any sort of meat is best! I know you love your doggie! Anyone who wants to bake cookies for their doggie obviously loves them which is awesome! Good luck with doggy treats!

I haven't tried but would like to. I know that dogs can not digest like we can and you have to be careful with the ingredients. If you get a recipe i would just love it if you could send it to me thru the message part. Unfortunately, we can not paste so you could paste a recipe here :(

I do have a recipe for them but I have not made them, so I don't know how good they are. That being said though everything I have tried in this cook book I have liked. So hear goes:


Ingredients:

3 1/2 cups flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup rye flour
2 cups bulgur wheat
1 cup corn meal
2 to 3 cups chicken broth (or beef)
1/2 cup instant dry milk
4 teaspoons salt
1 pacakage yeast
1/4 cup very warm water

1 egg
1/2 cup milk


In large bowl, mix flours, bulgur wheat, corn meal, dry milk and salt. Sprinkle yeast over warm water and stir to disolve. Add yeast mixture and 2 cups broth to dry ingredients. Mix well with hands...dough will be stiff. If neccessary, add a little more broth.

On a floured boured, roll dough 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes and put on ungreased cookie sheets. Brush biscuties lightly with mixture of 1 egg and 1/2 cup milk. Bake 45 minutes in preheated 300 degrees oven. Turn off oven after 45 minutes and let biscuits stay in oven over night. Makes 1 1/2 dozen busiutes depending on size of cutouts.

I made some a week ago. My husband saw them and started laughing because I hadn't cooked a meal for him in days, but I was baking dog treats for the dogs.

I even have a cookie cutter in the shape of a dog bone. The dogs loved them. I found the recipe on the internet and the cookie cutter was at a place called Michaels, a craft shop by my house.

The recipe had wheat flour and all natural peanut butter and a little milk and baking powder. If you want it I will look it up and send it to you. Right now I think it is burried in my recipe box that I haven't organized, yet.

It only took a little while to do it. It something fun to do on a rainy day. I had my daughter help me, too.
