Putting GPS tracking systems on kids  email this discussion to a friend?

I read an article in some women's magazine about how you can now track your children (especially teenagers) with their very own GPS systems. It said you could get GPS systems for their cellphones or cars. The article made it sound like a very good idea. However, I think its sort of going too far! These GPS things are making us crazy, and now we're putting them on our kids????? Before you know it, we'll be allowing our children... and ourselves... to have tiny GPS systems inserted under our skin... for our own good, of course! What do you think about this?

When you mentioned GPS system and from your description of the GPS system, it is some form of tracking device.

I do not think this is good because

1. It appears that the child is a offender and you are tracking his every moment..
2. The chances are that the child will drift further away from you.
3. The child will eventually find a way to deactivate the system and start doing more unpleasant things

To make matters short, would you like someone tracking your every movements. Your answer will be a big “NO”

GPS may well be a good thing for many parents to be able to locate their children, especially in an emergency. But I'm afraid that this technology is making children accustomed to being tracked at all times, and therefore the next generation will grow up without an appreciation for privacy, and with a quiet acquiescence to the coming surveillance state.
