Has anyone visited Punta Cana, Dominican Republic?  

I haven't been there but can you tell me what is so great of that place?

Dominican Republic is a really beautiful country with some of the most amazing beaches I have ever been to. Punta Cana is really nice, not too far away is La Romana and Altos de Chavon which are also really beautiful. Like many Latin American country there is quite a large gap between rich and poor. You may experience a bit of a culture shock in the towns as there is a large amount of poverty. However, the natural landscapes of the Dominican Republic is really amazing. I am fairly sure most of the Pirates of The Carribean movies were filmed around the dominican republic. There are really nice beaches and small islands you can travel to for the day. If you have the opportunity to travel there you should definitely go.
