I think each year a stamp should be put out to honor the Teacher of the Year. The good teachers are such an important influence on the children in this world. They spend a lot of time with our kids. They do not get the national attention they deserve. It would be a heck of a lot better than vegetables!?!

Oh how great that would be to honor the Teacher of the Year with their own stamp!!! Teachers have in their hands our most valuable resource...the future. Yes, we should honor them before vegetables?!?!

My youngest uncle suddenly passed away this Wednesday and yesterday, the army soldiers came to honor him and fold the flag for his wife for his time in Vietnam. I think there should be an entire series for each war our soldiers have been in. A good point was made by his wife when she spoke to us while holding that flag. The Vietnam vets were treated badly when they came home, so it would be nice to see a series of all wars so we don't forget the sacrifice they all mad and still make to this day.

I am sorry for your loss. Yes, a series to honor those who fought in all the wars, even the wars which were viewed as 'unnecessary' would be great. No matte what folk's opinoin of the war was, those soldiers went and served their country..and for that they should be honored.

I would like see a series of endangered animals and the cute animals we have. I support the humane society and they always send me the cutest address labels. I would Love to see all the animals put on postage stamps. I had some animal ones years ago, but there were only 4 different ones and they were the big animals from the zoo.
The last ones I just bought had the dreaded vegetables on them too. I asked for some other kind even the plain ones and these were all they had, so they said.

I would like to see a series on penguins, as have always been interested in them. The recent movie about penguins was so interesting. The movie was called Happy Feet and it was a big success. Its hard to get young people to start collecting stamps, so I feel its important to encourage stamp collecting whenever possible.

I'm so sick of winter and I love flowers I'd start with pansy and roses if I was making a new postage stamp. I'd also make some with hummingbirds. I like birds and flowers.
Actually I think this would be a pretty neat idea !!!

I would put the American Bald Eagle. It represents our country, and it is so fierce and stong.

Hello crazynurse.......
And to all those that have or will respond to this discussion.......
I can tell you that ALL of your ideas are already pictured on US and/or world wide stamps. The variety of topics on stamps covers just about everything you can think of. The only subject I have not yet found is something connected to the game of cribbage.
There are stamps celebrating or showing......endangered species, veterans, teachers, 9/11 victims, plants, flowers, trees, famous people, buildings, national parks, classic cars, horses, cats, dogs, butterflies, bugs, spiders, movies, astronomy, ocean life, rocks & minerals, fossils, dinosaurs, time pieces, dolls, and the list goes on and on seemingly endless.
If you want a wider variety of stamps to use as postage, ask for commemoratives at the post office when you buy stamps. The average number produced for use in the US is very near 200 different stamps every year !!. This year a new triangle stamp celebrating the founding of Jamestown will be issued on May 11th. I have seen the pre-release image and it is one of the nicest stamps I've seen in many years, and I've been collecting a little over 48 years.
Anyone interested in starting a collection either for stamps in general on on a specific topic is welcome to contact me.

I would put different lighthouses on them. I collect them and love lighthouses. I have 3 outside ones and numerous items inside the house. I would maybe add the state name under the ones taken in that area.
