Boarding a Bus!

Now... I was watching a Billy Connolly DVD the other day... ok, so the guy makes me laugh! He's great!

Anyway, he was talking about the way men and women board a bus, ha ha ha. He quite rightly pointed out that there's a pole in the middle of the doorway onto the bus, but the rest, although funny, I'm not sure I agree with.

He went on to say that men hang on to the pole with their left hand, and put their left foot on the bus first. The women, however, hold onto the pole with their right hand and put their right foot on the bus first. (That's where I differ, because I hold the pole with my left and put my right foot on first)lol. I was born awkward!

If the bus pulls away quickly, the man, holding on with his left hand and his left foot on the bus, gets thrown ONto the bus. But, and here was the bit that cracked me up... if the bus pulls away quickly and the woman is hanging on with her right hand and her right foot on the bus, she's left dangling from the pole, and the passage of air holds her there. lol.

Ahhhhhhhhh, Mr. Connelly, but it doesn't end there. The woman ends up the clever one because if the bus driver pulls away before she is in the bus and she ends up taking a ride outside the bus... there must be a claim there somewhere? Besides, have the days gone when the gentlemen used to help the ladies onto the bus first? What happened to the age of chivalry?

Sorry, I'm just being pernickety. Very funny guy, Mr. Connelly. He has me in stitches over everyday things.
