EEEEKKKK!!! I have a mouse in the house!!! |
| |
| I was sitting in the rec room in my basement, there is one small section of the basement thats not completed, we just house the ordinary things out there like the lawn mower, BBQ, gardening tools, chistmas decorations etc...and this little brown mouse walked out across the floor as if he owned the place...I was mortified and I just sat there, he stood up on his back feet and just looked at me...I have never had a mouse before... He didn't scare me in the least, in a job I worked we had mice running around all over the place..lol..it was an everyday thing to see one...warehouse work...in case you are wondering...haha!!I don't just want to kill him, he looks so cute, my daughter owns two hamsters and I cant imagine ever hurting one of them, Is there a way I can catch this little fellow that has evaded my home and set him free??.. | | Mouse in my house! | | | | |

| | You can search for no-kill mouse traps on the web. Mice tend to come in when it's cold outside. Here's link for a home made no kill trap that sounds great. I'm sure I'll have need of it before long. :) http://glass.typepad.com/... | | | | | | |

| | You probably want to avoid as much contact as possible. They bite and spread disease such as the hantavirus which was identified in the US in 1993 in New Mexico. Young healthy American Indians started dropping dead. A full scale investigation revealed it was a type of hantavirus. Supposedly the virus was inhaled when somebody swept the floor that had rodent droppings and urine. It has since been reported in many other states, especially the southwest and pacific states. The disease is rare but still take precautions. Good luck. :) | | | |

| | Good lord, I have never heard of this Julia, I know that its just a field mouse but still, a mouse is a mouse, regardless of where it came from...gonna have to buy a no-kill trap and be very careful not to let it close to me to bite me.. thanks for posting | | | |

| | I took lots of microbiology courses and worked in a health related field so I was always hearing about these things. I actually find it fascinating. Want to read about a killer virus? Robin Cook's fictional book 'Outbreak' is about the Ebola virus which is considered more deadly than hantavirus. Oh, once on the 'X-Files' Agent Scully mentioned hantavirus. Anyway, just knowing the possible risks, no matter how small, will help folks make informed decisions. | | | |

| | Wasnt that a movie Julia?..and Dustin Hoffman was in it?..maybe i am getting it confused, but I remember it a very similar story... | | | |

| | Yes there was a movie called 'Outbreak' but not based on Robin Cook's book. The 1995 movie based on the book is called 'Virus' with Nicolette Sheridan. It seems that Dr. Cook sold the title to one movie and the plot to another movie. lol! | | | |

| | Maybe it would be a better idea to create a home for the cute little fellow and let it be friends to the 2 hamsters :P Put a plate of cheese where you think is a nice place the cute little fellow will feast on. | | | | | | |

| | I think they are cute.iam not afraid of them either.I ust to have hampsters and my ex husband use to have a rat as a pet.I was scared of Ratty at first but he grew on me and he was smarter then any hampster I have ever seen. They seem to be thoughtful quick animals.Any animal of god has the right to live.Try placing food out for him and set up some kinda little box trap or something.Iam not shure.I have never tried traping one!they are smart you got to stay one step ahead of him if you can.Good luck! | | | | | | |

| | I picked up a safe trap, its pretty neat how this thing is rigged up..he goes in a small hole towards food, I was told to use peanut butter...and when he goes up the little ramp it closes the door behind him and he is trapped, all I have to do is then release him...and it was suggested I release him at lease 3 mile away from my house or he would find his way back...pretty neat... thanks for posting Ressie | | | |
