The movie 'Titanic' was on during the past weekend. My 14 year old has seen it once and I would not let my 10 year old watch it as I didn't believe it was appropriate for her to watch (heck, even i think its scary!) But my 10 year old daughter informed me that her friend has seen it and she is the same age...
This brings me to the question, what movies do you let your children watch?

I think it depends how sensitive you believe your child is. You have the best judgement about that. If you think she'll be upset by it then it's probably not time yet.
Good luck.

yea thats it exactly! I mean ppl think that I'm nuts or even go as far as to say I'm a bad parent because I'm so laid back with my kids but my kids are plenty mature enough far beyond their yrs to handle movies of all sorts...

I do restrict my children on some movies. The problem is that they go to a friends house and see the movie. If I think the movie like Titanic is an emotional one and touches on so many things I watch it with my children. I have found when I say that one can watch something and the other one can't the youngest tries to get her sister to watch it when I am not around. I think it is more out of curiosity then anything. So if I watch it with her she tends to get bored with it and moves on. There are some movies I will forbid and they do tell their friends parents that they can not watch it but not always during a sleep over will the parents respect my wishes because it is easier to sit them in front of a tv then to do something with all the kids.

I dont have any children, im onyl 18 :) But i do have two nieces. They are 4 and 6. The 4 year old LOVES the Phantom of the Opera(2004). I cover her eyes at the parts where he kills people, but other than that I let her watch it. And she loes it. She has the whole 'phantom of the opera' song memorized, I love listening to her sing it! She LOVES "the boy with the mask" (phantom-gerard butler).
Both of my nieces also love the Chronicles of Narnia (remake) They call it "the lion movie" :) They love looking at all the animals, and love that they can talk.
