Are you one of the 'Silent Majority'??? The silent majority are those professionals, middle class and the educated faction of the society who choose to remain silent in a lot of issues but are still watchful on what is happening in the country. I am now one of them. Now that I am older, I have gained a broader view and understanding of things and have become more realistic and patient as far as reforms in the government is concerned. I also learned to believe that somehow our country will prosper in the next few years which spring from my trust that we as a people are becoming more educated in our judgment and choices. I may no longer join the rallies but I make sure that my voice is heard when the situation calls for it. I have become a part of the ‘SILENT MAJORITY’ but no less vigilant of what is happening in our country. It would be the silent majority who may be the last to go to the streets and speak out but it would be the silent majority who would be the determining factor of the final outcome. Take for example the seemingly loud call for the resignation or impeachment of President Arroyo by the opposition. Until now it remains a futile effort of the opposition because the silent majority chose to remain silent. Or the impeachment case against Chief Justice Davide which again failed, because the silent majority in one of the rare occasions in history rallied themselves and showed to those ‘brat pack congressmen’ that we see through their machinations to discredit an honest and honorable man. It was also the presence of the silent majority that made 'Edsa Dos' a success in deposing a President and it was the noticeable absence of the silent majority that made 'Edsa Tres' a grand failure. The silent majority may choose to remain silent most of the time and adapt a waiting & tolerant attitude but we are ever watchful and will rally ourselves if necessary.

I present myself as one of those 'silent majorities' you've mentioned here. As far as our Country's government and political issues are concerned, I tend to just keep on 'watch and see' of how things would come out to it's later results, because I believe that there's still so much things that we need to pay more attention than focusing and concentrating our minds to this things like this, which could only make our mind blew like a wind and still we became the so called 'victims' of all this things that's going on around us somewhere, everywhere.

I feel that it would be more chaotic and a deterrence if all of us make noise. I would rather do other productive things and would just speak up whenever the situation calls for it. Thanks for responding!

Yes, I am probably part of the silent majority. I wait and watch to see where I can successfully make change happen without rocking the boat too much.

You got it right. I don't want to rock the boat too much too. I just let them do their thing and see what happens. Thanks for responding!
