No news is good news

It took me a while to learn this, but it is so true. Especially when you are dealing with doctors. I've learned that the last thing I want is to get a phone call from a doctor's office if I've had a test run. Not so good news if its about a job, but....

I believe no news is good news, too. Or at least I like delaying bad news. I hate it when you get a really nasty piece right before a holiday or at the beginning of a weekend and then it just wrecks everything.

I agree with this statement very much. It is very true the more you think about it, and I think it applies to most if not all cases. Even time I get an unexpected call or envelope, I will also pray that it is nothing. Better nothing than bad.

It seems that way more times than the other - except for job applications. Then no news means you didn't get it.

Yeah, I swear the last person you want to hear from is a doctor! He's too busy to just casually call. Mom did hear about her xray, at least that was good news!

I agree with you . Whenever i have a test done,I am always a nervous wreck til time goes by and I haven't had a call from the doc.

I have to say my doctor's office is pretty good about sending out the results in the mail & I'm always pretty happy to see one of their green envelopes. When my doctor was in a group it was not unknown to be on hold for an HOUR to talk to a nurse & those envelopes took forever. But since he split with the other doctors, I'm happy to say, things have improved. I've even noticed an improvement on call backs for after hour calls - I even got the doctor himself on one of those!

Funny about bad news...poeple are way too much in a hurry to rush it to you.But most of the time if it's bad I just soon get it over. Cheers R

There is that - once you know, you can s tart dealing with it, be it medical or personal. In fact, I'd even like to know the bad news about a job so I can look even harder for another one.

I've just heard of this now and I'm thinking that this is right.. :) I agree, it's better to have no new rather than have bad news..

Well, its more that if they haven't called you then there's no problem. All though I told my mom that last month when she fell & didn't hear about the xray. She still nagged me about what they found. I told her that if they found a break, they would have called & sent us to the hospital to get it fixed. But she was hurting so she wanted the reasurance.

if I don't get news about a job, it usually means that they have not accepted my candidature. No news from you loved one does not necessarily mean good news.

I agree. The longer time goes on without a phone call, the more certain you can be things are fine. I once missed a message on a Friday evening about blood test results I didn' even expect to hear back on. It made for a long weekend, because I knew something had to be wrong if they called back that quickly!

I just got done with a day where my mom had to get xrays because she fell last night. I'm telling you, she nagged me for most of the week about the last xray results, and they were negative. I kept telling her, if you broke something they'd be sending you to the hospital or doctor. I'm not looking forward to mom tomorrow if they haven't told her. She's weak, but still there in the head, I wish they'd talk to her rather than making her get it from us.
