altering issues - enough to seek a drs advice. Wow, that is pretty high...after giving birth did you suffer from anything? I remember after giving birth to my first child, i was pretty depressed (sleep deprivations does not help either)due to the fact of giving up independance and hormones...i cried for about 3 days straight then i was ok... What was your story?

I personally did not get really depressed after having my child. There were a few days here and there where I did not know if I could do it, but those were when I was really sick and my husband was at work so I still had to care for our baby. I enjoyed the first few weeks with our child.

I remembered my mother when she delivered my youngest brother. She had terrible mood swings, she didn't even want to see her baby. Remember Brooke Shields when she even came to a point that she wanted to hurt her baby? This can happen not because the mother is psychotic or neurotic or having anything pathological. This is called "postpartum depression" and it's brought about by hormonal surge. I learned about this in medical school, so when my mother suffered the symptoms of this post-delivery depression, I knew what it was all about, and that it would also go away in time.
