I got one the day I adopted my new doggie. She loved it and ended up eating and chewing up that thing in less than a half hour. About 2 or 3 later she threw it up. I'm concerned because she ate it on an empty stomach. I'm not sure if she threw up because of her empty stomach or because the greenie chew affects her in a negative way. The reason she had an empty stomach was because she didn't want to eat the dog food we gave her. What do you think?

I'm almost certain I saw something about a recall on those. I did! Search for "Greenies recall" and make sure they weren't made before the recall and that they're the new formula. I hope everything is alright with your doggie.

I used to give my dogs greenies. I haven't for about 2 years as I had a friend's dog choke on one from eating it too fast. It's too bad too because my dogs loved greenies, but it's not worth the risk in my opinion.

Greenies are really not that great for dogs. There have been many problems with them, and I stopped feeding them to my dog. There are many other, natural things that are better for your pup. There are hooves, pigs ears, and cow tendons that are waaaayyy healthier for your pooch, and your pooch will like them even better than the greenies!

As the first poster said, there has been a recall on greenies because the first formula was hard to digest, it didn't break down the way it should. Also, if your dog ate it too fast and didn't chew it up throughly, it may have been too large for her to digest and so her system threw it up to get rid of it. This is far better than if it had gotten stuck in her intestines. Some dogs just shouldn't have chews like Greenies and Rawhides because they gobble them down too fast and get sick.
I give my dog a rawhide chip everyday, but watch him while he eats it (in fact, he now refuses to eat one if one of us is not present). My dog is a strong chewer though, and really demolishes those chips before swallowing, your dog may not be as suited. Maybe you could try other chew toys like rubber Kong toys.
