How far do you go to support your local football/baseball/basketball teams?

Where I live people go crazy to support our local college football and basketball teams. They camp out for days to get tickets, dress in face-paint and from head to toe in the local colors, buy cars and trucks that match the teams colors and even buy lawnmowers and tractors in team colors. How far do you go to show your support for you local teams, and is there anything you wouldn't do?

I don't root for just one team but many. But if I had only one team and a lot of money, I would travel to every away game.I would buy a jershey of my favorite player. I would buy a box seat season tickets.I wouldn't paint my face, but I would have a limo with the team on the license plates , if I could. But since I root for 6 football teams , 6 hockey and 4 baseball, it would be hard to go overboard.

"You covet what you see every day."I get to know the players and I get to care about them. Most of the teams I root for I do it because I got to know a little about the players. The year after The Red Wings won the cup the first time , 1997-1998, there was a car accident where a key player was paralyized. If I didn't call myself a Red Wing fan before, I did from then on.That is the reson I love the Red Wings and Brendan Shanahan played for them.He is my favorite althete. Now he is with The Rangers. Luckily for me I was a fan already because of Messier.Other teams are the home team and I get to hear about them more than any other teams. And then it could be the coach. I love the Dodgers I love Tommy Lasorda. And The Giants football because of The Tuna, Bill Parsels.I usually follow my favs to their new team but i didn't and couldn't when Bill was coaching the one football team I hate, The Cowboys. It has been wild,I still like Bill but wouldn't root for The Cowboys And I hate, hate Ton Coughlin, the coach of my beloved Giants.

Wow it sounds as if you are a truly a dedicated sports fan. One question though, what is the draw for getting so involved in following a team, or teams in your case. What makes you want to do all the things you mentioned? Thanks for adding to the discussion.

See, this is a sensitive subject for me... GO 49ERS!!! i have a few favorite teams, one for every sport, and they're all local teams. I want to have an office one day full of signed pictures, jerseys, and other things that represent my favorite teams... GO 49ERS!!! as far as my own pride, I do a lot. I have jerseys for my favorite teams, I want to go out to the games and scream my heart out (i remember one time I was like, 8-9 and remember screaming to Andre Rison when he was with the Atlanta Falcons: "Go home to your burned-down home!") but a fanatic... GO 49ERS!!! I go to training camps, watch every game on television, and I am even the team's correspondent for a national website. so in closing... GO 49ERS!!!

I can tell you love the 49ers! That's great that you get to be a team correspondent for them, that has to be a lot of fun! Thanks so much for your reply but one question: Is there anything you wouldn't do in your support of the 49er's, something that would cross the line?

Honestly, I'm not much of a "face paint" or "shirtless" body paint type of person. I will stand in line for hours if it meant playoff tickets or something like that, but I don't know. those guys in Washington who dress like hogs in dresses, or the 'Black Hole' in Oakland, I don't know if I would go that far... I guess you can say that I express my fanaticism in different ways.
