Rock music?

I'm a long time fan of supporting indie bands. For me the music is sometimes more to the point, honest and true to themselves. (as well as the fans) Which do you prefer? Mainstream or indie? My views, their a lot of + and - for both sides although indie is way better imo, as the bands a loyal to fans more % than those who big. (they don't fans to be along side or come back, aslong as they can attract new listeners) Anyways. www.rock-on-ezine.com It's a project of mine which I aim to support indie bands. If your rocker, feel free to join =)

Well i start off liking Indie music and end up liking the mainstream. I remember back all them years when Snow patrol were an up and coming indie band, now their a pop band. I generally lean towards indie music although the difference between indie and mainstream has become a bit distorted of late. My favourite bands of late are the Killers, The Fratellis, Muse and the Yo Yos (OK the Yo Yo's are a bit old but i only just found them) So what do you call these bands, are they Indie or mainstream, the first 3 are certainly commercially very popular which surely means they are mainstream but then i would probably describe them as Indie. Lets just leave it as i don't like manufactured pop music, that should cover it

OK, so I'm an "old lady" too - well, in my 40's, but I do know a fair bit about the music of today, thanks to the many young people I work with, who talk about their local bands, their DJing, and all their techno and dance stuff! My own personal taste though, is very much the music I grew up with - so 1970's and 80's rock, when I was first going out to parties, and dating etc. I love early Genesis, Phil Colins, Pink Floyd, Rush, Led Zeppelin, and Emerson, Lake and Palmer from the 70's, while from the 80's would be U2, Simple Minds, Marillion, and The Police. I also quite like Bryan Adams, and Foreigner. I'm not really into Indie myself - sorry!
