HomeWork blues!

Kids came home from school about 4pm. We started in on homework. We did Teresa's first. She is a first grader. Then Jarod's was next. He is a 3rd grader. It is 7:45PM. They had lots of homework. Most of it was late but I made them do it anyway.
Here is where I would like some advice. How long should homework really take? Should I make them do the past work? And am I the only one who gets a migraine after trying to do 1st and 3rd grade math? Like I really now how many termites will go into a 15 CM space and a 30 MM space.

I didn't start getting homework till grade 7!!! What's up with schools these days?

I don't know. I always had homework. I always did it very fast. I think I was a teacher's pet or something.

Is kid’s homework intended to be done by kids, or by parents? My best friend is always complaining about doing homework with kids, and I told her to let her kids do it without help. Kid’s homework should be done without parents help. Kids know better than as, because they learn about in school, homework is just repetition.
My friend kid has attention disorder and she thinks that she has to help him. Is she going to go with him to college?

I do let them do their homework. They are learning more when I help. I think they need the extra boost. It is amazing how much Jarod knows when he thinks he is explaining something to me.

Don't sweat it . At their age they probably enjoyed the time with you.
