HomeWork blues!  

LOL--- My daughter is in 5th grade- Let me tell you she has alot of homework all throughout the week-- none on Fridays- this makes little sense to me as she has more time on the weekends to do the work?
Get used to it-- It doesn't get better-- I find myself on google alot searching for help with homework- Mostly Math and I am an accountant!
My daughters school believes in alot of family projects too-- so we do these about every other month- Big reports, we had to build a log house a couple months ago!

Don't sweat it . At their age they probably enjoyed the time with you.

Hi Connie I have a daughter in grade 3 and son who is now in grade 5.
At our school when the kids were in grade 1 I was told the time spent on homework should be 15 mins no more then 20 mins each night. Grade 3 they should only have 20 mins - 40 mins max...
This of course never includes thoughs lovely little project they hand out and usually end up having to due them on some weekend since there is no time during the week lol.
Yes schoolwork these days gets more and more complicated lol.
I think they do it to drive us parents NUTS! lol
If you find it's taking way to long to do homework you might want to talk to the teacher and see what s/he says about it.
Some teachers are different that way. I know when my son was in grade 2 his teacher handed out a ton of homework and he could of spent 3 or more hrs trying to get it done... when I talk to the teacher she explained that she didn't expect all the kids to get it done she just gave out extra because some kids need more because they breezed through the stuff to fast.
she then told me to just keep track of how much time he spent on his homework a night if he did his 20 mins.. then just write a note on his work saying he spent that amount of time on it and if there was something he was really having problems with make a note that she might need to go back over it with him again.

Is kid’s homework intended to be done by kids, or by parents? My best friend is always complaining about doing homework with kids, and I told her to let her kids do it without help. Kid’s homework should be done without parents help. Kids know better than as, because they learn about in school, homework is just repetition.
My friend kid has attention disorder and she thinks that she has to help him. Is she going to go with him to college?

I didn't start getting homework till grade 7!!! What's up with schools these days?

In our home, homework takes however long it takes, and they are required to do all homework,late or not. I've been fortunate, in that mine don't usually need much help with their work, so no migraines.....LOL.
