oh well, you better catch it, I don't really know what kind of movies you like but if any of them happen to be action or epic movies or just downright awesome, then this one's for you.

whoa! you missed a lot lordwarwizard. it's truly a great film to watch. no boring moments and the sound is really great! will keep you alive the entire time you are watching it. see it and you'll find it worth it!

well, i really hope you will catch this movie, last time we watched it, i encouraged all of my office mates, and all of them really enjoyed, the music, the cinematography, everythings good, truly is a new way of making a film....i'll just give it four thumbs up(including my feets thumb ha ha ha) enjoy!

yeah 300 six packs did help, that's true, but the movie is just so beautiful, with all its scenes, each scene, and each dialogue is so memorable.

I'm so freakin' jealous, lol. It makes me never want to half-@ss another workout ever again! Did the director approach all the actors in like 1996 and say "Alright, for this 300 movie you've been cast in, you're all going to be doing sit-ups all day everyday until we're ready to begin filming for its release in 2007," lol. Seriously, it must have taken a lot to prepare for that movie.

i think that those were also somewhat digitally enhanced,
of course the goods were there, but the color of the movie helped as it played with a lot of shadows, but as long as it inspires guys to work out more, i'm happy.

yes, i am into horror movies, a lot, and i'll keep a look out for dead silence, the problem is that most horror movies don't really scare me that much anymore.
300 was not a horror of course, it was a masterpiece, it doesn't matter what anyone says about it, you have got to watch it yourself to believe it.
It's actually one of those movies which you will totally love or totally hate, and nothing in between, of course the people who didn't like it are losers, ha ha.
I loved it.

i don't think movies and politics should be mixed.
Entertainment has it's own place, and this movie is just pure entertainment based on some history, but unfortunately people always have to derive some underlying meaning for everything.

Unfortunately there always IS an underlying meaning . For an outstanding boring example consider the show "24", it appeared after 911 and it shows a stupid terrorist Arab or Afghan (or Pakistani) in almost every episode .

You will learn to appreciate such things as you become more mature . NOTHING can be or should be taken for granted .
In this movie the losing defenders are portrayed as brave and the Persians as barbaric usurpers . In Alexander, the Greeks were adventurous enterpreneurs while the same Persians were portrayed as pathetic losers, not brave resistors .
Dont you agree there is some pattern there? Of course, the West is ALWAYS better .

yeah, well i find 24 boring anyway, and just because I am Pakistani doesn't mean I'm offended by that show. The fact is that there are good and bad people everywhere, and one terrorist in one movie doesn't describe everyone else. I think that's a trap that most people fall into, they get offended by these things when it has nothing to do with them, when the fact is that for entertainment there always has to be the good guy and the bad guy.

See this movie had some basis in actual history, so i don't think it was portrayed this way just to provoke people and if it was, then the best thing would be not to be affected by it, because that just triggers another chain of events. There are even Indian and Pakistani movies about the British invasion, the fact is that human history is full of the east against the west, and instead of just learning about our history and just enjoying it with interest, most of us unfortunately recreate it.
When will people understand the fundamental thing?
That first and foremost, we're all just 'HUMAN' above everything else like race or religion.

Plus I started this discussion about a movie that i thoroughly enjoyed, so don't go all political on me. I'm not interested in politics or the so-called 'world issues' that are just generated by nitwits that we call our leaders.
Let me enjoy a good looking movie.
And i don't think this comes with maturity, i think these thoughts that most people have aren't even their own, but generated by the media and the government to keep people on their toes.
Fortunately, I'm not dumb enough to fall into that plan.
I still think it was a really good-looking movie. In fact I'm watching it again this week with my friend.

About the maturity comment: I did not mean YOU are not mature, its just that some ideas are more characteristic of one level of growth and not the other . Like believing in the value of the individual's identity and criteria vs. the collective identity and criteria .

well i think I'm well aware of my individual identity, I know what to believe and no one decides that but me. I just think that if it comes to conspiracy theories then everything can seem like a conspiracy, I'm too lazy to care, so good for me.

I cannot believe that this movie was condemned to be honest...it is based on history, it is in the past. Also, if I remember correctly this movie was based on a comic....was the comic ever comdemned?

yeah, exactly it's based on history, so it's not like it's a personal attack on anyone. And it's based on the past, not the present, so I don't know how people can be offended by that. You're totally right.

lol...yeah...you're absolutely right, the lighting and the cinematography really brought the best out of the movie...and well, of course the characters and the way they delivered it was the cherry on top of the ice cream...lol...specially King Leonidas a.k.a Gerard Butler...i love him...lol...

And I didn't really want to get into the whole political argument thing, but I just couldn't shut it, it's like opening Pandora's box. I mean a movie is pure entertainment and meant to be enjoyed, not to be gone over a fine toothed comb, and just looking for connections and conspiracy theories, if that's the case then we can find conspiracy theories in everything, even a sneeze, it's all about looking hard enough, and the only thing i was looking hard enough at in this movie were the half naked guys, so excuse me!!

hey come on, that's not what we meant, sure, the six packs were a bonus but the movie was done beautifully besides that. Each dialog is memorable. Each scene is so artistic. The graphics are fabulous. And even the story is awesome, I love epic movies anyway, because they always have you wondering, some of it is legend, some myth, and some reality. And that's the best part. At least we don't see anything negative in a 'movie'. Plus the whole movie was so fluid especially some of the action sequences shot through just one angle. Those were awesome.
So, in conclusion, we did take a lot from the movie, of course we didn't need to talk about it because the excellence of the movie was obvious enough anyway. We were just talking about the other 'lighter side' of the movie, which I'm sure you don't know much about, as I see that you like to make everything so serious.

vega I was joking, I didnt think the phrase made much sense, since "essence" implies seriousness or deep thought, right? I will give you a hint: the essence of that movie would be something about whether it is worthwhile to lose everything to save honor, it is a conversation about what the ultimate priority in life is: maintaining life and security, versus maintaining honor and defying the enemy to the end though annihilating oneself in the process . That is some deep stuff .

It's one of the best I've seen in a few years, actually. I'm gonna see it once more on the big screen and then get the DVD.

It's quite a dar movie too, in regards to contant and visually too, but the dark visuals do not detract from the amazing film.

Actually I think the dark visuals added to the amazement of the film. It was almost like being in a video game, and you know how much I love that.

Well, I love video games and movies but I really don't like movie video games, mainly because you already know the whole story and what to do. I liked the Da vinci code game, because I played that before watching the movie, but I couldn't stand van helsing, the game.
300 might be good if they make it right. Let's wait and see.

I must admit (and you know) I do rather dislike movies based on video games, but that is because for the most part they are garbage...for every good movie (Resident Evil) there are several REALLY bad ones (House Of The Dead, Super Mario Bros, Double Dragon). It's sad really, as I'm sure there could be some good ones.

s for the 300 game, I believe it is a figting game (now there's a surprise!) so I'm looking forward to getting it!

no surprises there. Actually this might be a good one, sort of like prince of Persia, if they have those kind of fighting sequences where you can make your own moves by a combination of buttons.
Plus it had all those mini boss fights in the movie, like that huge bald guy or those rhinos or elephants, but I wonder what the ending would be like.

Oh, well, let me just say, when you started, I was a little skeptic, thought you didn't like the movie, but as I read on, my smile kept growing bigger. I don't think we've even touched the beautiful music of the film yet. It's so awesome, the rock and roll, during the first fight scene, reminded me of Prince of Persia: warrior within, the game. Rock is so good with action, that it's unbelievable.
Glad you enjoyed it as much as me, I too was left wanting more when the movie ended and I actually stayed behind and watched almost all the credits before the cleaning guys came in and I was forced to leave, ha ha.

I don't think that's much of a possibility seeing that the movie is based on history and all the 300 brave Spartans are dead already.
I guess they could make a movie about what happens next, but I think that would be of a completely different league.
Some movies are best left without sequels, because they're just so hard to follow. Like exorcist, what a great movie but all the other sequels sucked.
