mylottians- prepare for glory!!!! |
Excuse the capitals in this one, I'm still in my '300' zone, just watched it day before yesterday, and i loved it!!!! Now i had really been anticipating and waiting for this movie, and I was afraid all my anticipation would turn out to be a disappointment, but it didn't. Not at all. I loved the graphics of the movie, they were so game like with those brown color tones, and boy, i've never seen so many washboard abs all at once, 300 to be exact. I guess I loved the movie so much because it was so game-like. Even the mini-boss fights in between. When the movie was over, i actually wished for more, it was too short, i wanted to see more. Although, the scene at the end did remind me of a scene at the end of the Jet Li movie 'hero', but this movie had a life of its own. I guess i loved it so much also, because of the music, the rock music, that was just so Prince of Persia- warrior within-like. The fight sequences were awesome, a lot of CG work but damn good CG work. So, I'm done ranting. How about you? Has anyone seen the movie '300' Share your opinions on it.

1. lordwarwizard (9583) | 1 year ago | I would love to catch it. In fact, I had planned to watch it - got all changed and waiting for the bus.. then came the rain. In the end I missed it and went off to another appointment. I am seeing if I can catch it another day.
| |
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | oh well, you better catch it, I don't really know what kind of movies you like but if any of them happen to be action or epic movies or just downright awesome, then this one's for you.
| |

2. linzmcwilliams (1124) | 1 year ago | I LOVED it. It's the best new movie i've seen in a long time. I wasn't actually expecting to like it that much but it was really beautiful. Truley something different and breathtaking. Also lots of fit men with six packs helped.;]
| |
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | yeah 300 six packs did help, that's true, but the movie is just so beautiful, with all its scenes, each scene, and each dialogue is so memorable.

Metallideth (355) | 1 year ago | I'm so freakin' jealous, lol. It makes me never want to half-@ss another workout ever again! Did the director approach all the actors in like 1996 and say "Alright, for this 300 movie you've been cast in, you're all going to be doing sit-ups all day everyday until we're ready to begin filming for its release in 2007," lol. Seriously, it must have taken a lot to prepare for that movie.
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | haha, i think that those were also somewhat digitally enhanced, of course the goods were there, but the color of the movie helped as it played with a lot of shadows, but as long as it inspires guys to work out more, i'm happy.

| |
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | yes, i am into horror movies, a lot, and i'll keep a look out for dead silence, the problem is that most horror movies don't really scare me that much anymore. 300 was not a horror of course, it was a masterpiece, it doesn't matter what anyone says about it, you have got to watch it yourself to believe it. It's actually one of those movies which you will totally love or totally hate, and nothing in between, of course the people who didn't like it are losers, ha ha. I loved it.

5. shogunly (815) | 1 year ago | I did not see it yet . I think the producers were lucky to release it at this time as Iran is attracting attention as a challenger of Western powers . The movie with the depiction of Eastern peoples as barbarous savages satisfies the widespread anger and indignation in the West and tickles their sense of LEGENDARY moral and skill superiority . Sadly knowing all that might ruin the experience for me and prevent me from simply enjoying a wellmade movie commemorating the feats of some very brave men
| |
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | see, i don't get that, i don't think movies and politics should be mixed. Entertainment has it's own place, and this movie is just pure entertainment based on some history, but unfortunately people always have to derive some underlying meaning for everything.
| |
shogunly (815) | 1 year ago | Unfortunately there always IS an underlying meaning . For an outstanding boring example consider the show "24", it appeared after 911 and it shows a stupid terrorist Arab or Afghan (or Pakistani) in almost every episode .
| |
shogunly (815) | 1 year ago | You will learn to appreciate such things as you become more mature . NOTHING can be or should be taken for granted . In this movie the losing defenders are portrayed as brave and the Persians as barbaric usurpers . In Alexander, the Greeks were adventurous enterpreneurs while the same Persians were portrayed as pathetic losers, not brave resistors . Dont you agree there is some pattern there? Of course, the West is ALWAYS better .
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | yeah, well i find 24 boring anyway, and just because I am Pakistani doesn't mean I'm offended by that show. The fact is that there are good and bad people everywhere, and one terrorist in one movie doesn't describe everyone else. I think that's a trap that most people fall into, they get offended by these things when it has nothing to do with them, when the fact is that for entertainment there always has to be the good guy and the bad guy.
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | See this movie had some basis in actual history, so i don't think it was portrayed this way just to provoke people and if it was, then the best thing would be not to be affected by it, because that just triggers another chain of events. There are even Indian and Pakistani movies about the British invasion, the fact is that human history is full of the east against the west, and instead of just learning about our history and just enjoying it with interest, most of us unfortunately recreate it. When will people understand the fundamental thing? That first and foremost, we're all just 'HUMAN' above everything else like race or religion.
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | Plus I started this discussion about a movie that i thoroughly enjoyed, so don't go all political on me. I'm not interested in politics or the so-called 'world issues' that are just generated by nitwits that we call our leaders. Let me enjoy a good looking movie. And i don't think this comes with maturity, i think these thoughts that most people have aren't even their own, but generated by the media and the government to keep people on their toes. Fortunately, I'm not dumb enough to fall into that plan. I still think it was a really good-looking movie. In fact I'm watching it again this week with my friend.
| |
shogunly (815) | 1 year ago | You think my ideas arent my own?:) I challenge you to find a link between 300 movie and the current Iran and Iraq state of affairs ANYWHERE other than my reply to you!:) I joke . I hope you do enjoy the movie again . You are right, one should enjoy stuff if they can, otherwise just leave it . No use contemplating conspiracy and paranoid theories .
| |
shogunly (815) | 1 year ago | About the maturity comment: I did not mean YOU are not mature, its just that some ideas are more characteristic of one level of growth and not the other . Like believing in the value of the individual's identity and criteria vs. the collective identity and criteria .
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | well i think I'm well aware of my individual identity, I know what to believe and no one decides that but me. I just think that if it comes to conspiracy theories then everything can seem like a conspiracy, I'm too lazy to care, so good for me.
| |
Dumpertaker (461) | 1 year ago | I cannot believe that this movie was condemned to be honest...it is based on history, it is in the past. Also, if I remember correctly this movie was based on a comic....was the comic ever comdemned?
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | yeah, exactly it's based on history, so it's not like it's a personal attack on anyone. And it's based on the past, not the present, so I don't know how people can be offended by that. You're totally right.
| |
shogunly (815) | 1 year ago | Im quoting my original post: " I think the producers were lucky to release it at this time as Iran is attracting attention as a challenger of Western powers " I did not imply that the events never took place, its how they were reproduced . I dont know why you have to blow that remark out of proportion . Its only my impression .
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | alright, I'll give you that. But I don't think I blew anything out of proportion, or anyone else here for that matter. But you have to admit, this discussion did become interesting, with all our debates, and I think at least that good came out of it. As for being hostile, c'mon man, no hard feelings. That's what discussions are all about. Being able to share your opinions yet still being friends. I'm glad you didn't get too pissed by what everyone said. At least you didn't make any negative connections here, ha ha. Any no hard feelings, right? But I still stick by everything that I said and I still think you shouldn't make the political connections with movies, that being said, everyone is entitled to have their own opinions. I think you should still see the movie, and appreciate the six packs also, ha ha.
| |
shogunly (815) | 1 year ago | Sure, I definitely will watch the movie! I will then come back to this discussion to comment on all the pretty women (if there are any in the movie), since that aspect hasnt been covered yet:)
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | oh well, there are some hot chicks in there, the queen is one, and then there are some random ones too. Let's see your thoughts on the movie.
| |
Dumpertaker (461) | 1 year ago | Hope hope you were not taking my comments the wrong way, I was not intending to offend you in any way, just giving a personal view. I was not implying you said it was not true dude/dudette. As for the ladies in the movie...there are some real hotties in it I assure you!

6. bluerain_1484 (33) | 1 year ago | yup, yup, yup...I agree 101%...best movie ever...i've seen it twice and still counting....lol...it's really a masterpiece, i'll get a dvd copy of it...i'm glad that i watched it...I love King Leonidas...hehehe and the 300 half naked men...oh and that six packs...awesome..it's not technically enhanced though, coz when i watched gerard butler's interview (after watching it I became obsessed and searched it on the net), they were really hand picked for the role because of their good physique, and they were trained for the movie, so I think most of the abs are real...i hope so, coz that would flicker the spark...lol...but i still love it and gerard butler nevertheless...
| |
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | oh that's even better, that it wasn't digitally enhanced, the abs, i mean. But I still think the color of the movie helped. But in any case, it was a great sight to see.
| |
| bluerain_1484 (33) | 1 year ago | lol...yeah...you're absolutely right, the lighting and the cinematography really brought the best out of the movie...and well, of course the characters and the way they delivered it was the cherry on top of the ice cream...lol...specially King Leonidas a.k.a Gerard Butler...i love him...lol... i was laughing the whole time when u did the debate against the person who's trying to be all political on u...lol...he just didn't get the real essence of it, did he? but it's his lost not ours...hehehe
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | yeah, Gerard Butler is really something. And I didn't really want to get into the whole political argument thing, but I just couldn't shut it, it's like opening Pandora's box. I mean a movie is pure entertainment and meant to be enjoyed, not to be gone over a fine toothed comb, and just looking for connections and conspiracy theories, if that's the case then we can find conspiracy theories in everything, even a sneeze, it's all about looking hard enough, and the only thing i was looking hard enough at in this movie were the half naked guys, so excuse me!!
| |
shogunly (815) | 1 year ago | LoL: " I was laughing ..........debating against the guy ........he didnt get the ESSENCE of it ......" I was laughing reading THIS, like how YOU got the " essence " of the movie looking at the " naked men ", " and that six packs "! heheehhe
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | hey come on, that's not what we meant, sure, the six packs were a bonus but the movie was done beautifully besides that. Each dialog is memorable. Each scene is so artistic. The graphics are fabulous. And even the story is awesome, I love epic movies anyway, because they always have you wondering, some of it is legend, some myth, and some reality. And that's the best part. At least we don't see anything negative in a 'movie'. Plus the whole movie was so fluid especially some of the action sequences shot through just one angle. Those were awesome. So, in conclusion, we did take a lot from the movie, of course we didn't need to talk about it because the excellence of the movie was obvious enough anyway. We were just talking about the other 'lighter side' of the movie, which I'm sure you don't know much about, as I see that you like to make everything so serious.
| |
shogunly (815) | 1 year ago | vega I was joking, I didnt think the phrase made much sense, since "essence" implies seriousness or deep thought, right? I will give you a hint: the essence of that movie would be something about whether it is worthwhile to lose everything to save honor, it is a conversation about what the ultimate priority in life is: maintaining life and security, versus maintaining honor and defying the enemy to the end though annihilating oneself in the process . That is some deep stuff .
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | really, you were joking?..... Last time I checked jokes were supposed to be funny. And if that is the 'essence' and meaning you got from the movie, then why make it anything else anyway. I've got only one thing to say. 'you started it.'
| |
| bluerain_1484 (33) | 1 year ago | OMG, shogunly's really picking on everything we're saying...lol...hey shogunly maybe u should read what i posted again, and don't just try to pick lines then connects it to the other so that it would look like i was saying something bad which only u can say....that's lame...vega and i were just saying that the abs are just some of the good things about the movie, not the sole reason why we loved it...hey btw, if you think that just by saying something you considered deep necessarily mean u got the essence of the movie? think again...coz if you did really get it, u wouldn't be connecting issues and most of your so called "deep stuffs" to what vega and i we're saying in the first place...
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | well, apparently, conspiracy theories are also being generated from our comments. If you read between the lines then any piece of literature, any letter, any comment can sound bad or sound like an attack on someone somewhere, so please stop reading between the lines. See, first you said the movie was an attack on Persians showing them as 'pathetic losers' and then you said the movie was about 'honor' and defending your freedom even at risk of annihilation. Pick a side, shogunly.
| |
shogunly (815) | 1 year ago | Wow so hostile today! hehehe Did it take you a whole 24 hours JUST to come up with THAT? hehehe

7. Dumpertaker (461) | 1 year ago | I saw this movie over the weekend and I have to say that this is the best movie I have seen this year! I really cannot wait for this to be released on DVD!
| |
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | It's one of the best I've seen in a few years, actually. I'm gonna see it once more on the big screen and then get the DVD.
| |
Dumpertaker (461) | 1 year ago | It's quite a dar movie too, in regards to contant and visually too, but the dark visuals do not detract from the amazing film. Same as you, I'll be watching this several times before I get it on DVD!
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | Actually I think the dark visuals added to the amazement of the film. It was almost like being in a video game, and you know how much I love that.
| |
Dumpertaker (461) | 1 year ago | Yes, I have noticed you have quite a fondness for video games...like myself! I'm hoping to get "300 The March For Glory" (I think that's the title) for my PSP soon...hope it is as good as the movie!
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | Well, I love video games and movies but I really don't like movie video games, mainly because you already know the whole story and what to do. I liked the Da vinci code game, because I played that before watching the movie, but I couldn't stand van helsing, the game. 300 might be good if they make it right. Let's wait and see.
| |
Dumpertaker (461) | 1 year ago | I must admit (and you know) I do rather dislike movies based on video games, but that is because for the most part they are garbage...for every good movie (Resident Evil) there are several REALLY bad ones (House Of The Dead, Super Mario Bros, Double Dragon). It's sad really, as I'm sure there could be some good ones. s for the 300 game, I believe it is a figting game (now there's a surprise!) so I'm looking forward to getting it!
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | oh really, fighting game?? no surprises there. Actually this might be a good one, sort of like prince of Persia, if they have those kind of fighting sequences where you can make your own moves by a combination of buttons. Plus it had all those mini boss fights in the movie, like that huge bald guy or those rhinos or elephants, but I wonder what the ending would be like.

8. Pmcbride (594) | 1 year ago | I have sat through 2 hours of crap, more times than i can mention, i have sat through good movies that were 30,45 & 60 minutes too long (even when they lasted 90 minutes!). But this Movie (300) didn't last long enough for me, An excellent movie, without a doubt but the time i "wasted" watching this movie could not have been better spent (and i have seen it 4 times, so far) this is one of the best movies that you will see this year, and it should be recieving a lot of awards. On a basic storyline the movie has excelled in every way, musically, visually & with dialogue (which is scattered sparingly throughout the movie) that is inspiring and powerful, plus the violence and killing is very good too. Watch it, love It & watch it again.
| |
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | Oh, well, let me just say, when you started, I was a little skeptic, thought you didn't like the movie, but as I read on, my smile kept growing bigger. I don't think we've even touched the beautiful music of the film yet. It's so awesome, the rock and roll, during the first fight scene, reminded me of Prince of Persia: warrior within, the game. Rock is so good with action, that it's unbelievable. Glad you enjoyed it as much as me, I too was left wanting more when the movie ended and I actually stayed behind and watched almost all the credits before the cleaning guys came in and I was forced to leave, ha ha.

9. maryannemax (10502) | 1 year ago | i just have seen this movie yesterday with my family and one of my brother's friends. i say that it stunned me after the film. i just can't help but remember the scenes i've seen. too much heroism and it made me cry. i can't imagine how strong these 300 warriors are. they are heros! it's just sad to see them die at the end. i hope to see another part of it. i hope it's a trilogy, too.
| |
| |
vega83 (1408) | 1 year ago | I don't think that's much of a possibility seeing that the movie is based on history and all the 300 brave Spartans are dead already. I guess they could make a movie about what happens next, but I think that would be of a completely different league. Some movies are best left without sequels, because they're just so hard to follow. Like exorcist, what a great movie but all the other sequels sucked.
