with the high prices of gas the way they are, have you thought about getting rid if that big SUV and downgrading to a smaller vehicle to help save money?

No only because I can't afford to buy anything newer or more economical. I just limit how much I drive. I do all my errands one day a week. Anything else I have my hubby do on his way home from work. Like picking up milk or bread.

They really need to do something about this problem. It doesn't look like it's getting any better. Thanks for responding.

I don't drive myself, never did.I always used public transportation but I know a lot of people who do and since the prices went up,they've downgraded and the 2 vehicle families even got rid of one.....cars are expensive enough, you don't need the gas prices too

I agree.....maybe everyone should just refuse to drive their vehicles and stop buying gas.....the prices will HAVE to go down sooner or later

I definitely am keeping the price of gas in mind while looking for my new car purchase (new, used). While I'd love to have another Blazer to lug 3 hockey bags around for tournaments in, I know that the price of gas I'm much better off with a mid size or luxury size car. I'm looking at LeSabres again or another Buick of similar size.

We have an '04 Sunfire and my husband has a pick up truck and no he can't get rid of the truck...LOL. That would be like asking him to rip his arm off. But he does car pool to work (45 minutes one way). If money is really bad, he will drive my car a few days a week but that doesn't happen often. Forutnatly a full tank will last my car all week with the running around to ballet and preschool (soon that will pick up with little league starting) but I think I'm doing ok in my car. The truck on the other hand...it is about 80.00 a week--of course that is changing to a higher amount since gas is going up :(

It's awful how so many people are affected by these crazy prices. I don't know if you saw my other post about the prices of gas, if you haven't here is the link again to find the cheapest gas in your area. Type in your zip code and it shows you a map, address and prices in your zip code. http://autos.msn.com/everyday/gasstations.aspx?zip=&src=Netx

I don't own any vehicle, so I think that is not applicable for me. But, even otherwise, the fuel prices have come down a bit in our part of the world, much to the relief of the owners. I think soon hydrogen powered vehicles would be out on the road to save us from this misery.

I don't own an SUV. My car is a 2002 Ford ZX2 coupe. Would love to have a all-electric car that recharges itself or use solar energy to recharge.

i would rather save my suv than my money because i saved up for it. anyone who buys an expensive vehicle can manage the high cost of its daily maintenance and if its too much i can always use it during weekends.having a behicle like like that is a personal statement just like having a good watch or a phone.

I've thought about it but it just doesn't seem feasible for my family. We've got 5 grandkids in car seats, 11 total in the family. It takes all the seats in both our trucks to accomodate everyone. We would need at least three cars to do the same. Plus we do a lot of hauling. Helping people move, camping, even monthly trips to the grocery store wouldn't work with a car. We try to conserve gas by cutting out unnecessary trips, planning what trips we do make to cut down the miles and my son keeps the vehicles tuned up.

Well, I don't think buying a smaller vehicle help that much. If you get rid of big SUV and buy two small ones (since maybe you have families with more than 2 children, I don't think that will make any different. Makes the road even more crowded. Hmmm....maybe back to the good old days, bicycle ??? people in here use bicycle a lot. As for myself, my family has been thingking since last year to buy an family hybrid car. Half gas and half electric motor. That's my family solutions and we are still trying to save money to buy car that can save money.....

I don't have a car. I take public transportation when I go to Los Angeles because the bus, the shuttle and the train beats an automobile anytime in LA. Here in California the lowest price for a gallon of gas is $3.29. The highest is $3.79.

Nah we have a 4x4 pickup truck and really can't get rid of it because of the weather conditions here in the winter. Though we have thought about getting a little car just for going back n forth to work. Yes it doesn't look like gas is going to go down anytime soon. It's almost $3.00 a gallon now!
