The impact of Woolmer's murder on cricket at large..

I'm the youngest member of a totally cricket-crazy family. Youngest and also the craziest, I blog regularly about the matches that I watch and am the expert on all matters cricket related, as far as my friends are concerned! In spite of being such an ardent fan and disciple of the game, my faith in the game took a severe beating when the issue of match fixing raised its ugly head for the first time. When Hansie Cronje got caught red-handed, I did not know what to think. It was a double blow for me as not only was I a great cricket buff, but I was also a major fan of Hansie Cronje, and I just could not accept that fact that he could have tanked a match. ICC tried its best to protect the game from further damnation, and I believe, in the process, it even knowingly let a few guilty players get away with it as they considered bad publicity to cricket to be bad for the earnings of ICC. Now that the Pakistan fiasco in the World Cup has taken place, I'm filled with apprehension all over again as to what is going to happen to my beloved game. Will it be proved that betting and match fixing is still alive? The worst thing about match fixing is that it takes away all credibility from even genuine matches. When a team loses due to a few stray mistakes, instead of getting the sympathy of its fans, they get accused of tanking the match. This attitude has make the cricketers a very insecure bunch. Hopefully something will be done to rectfy the situation, and soon. And may Bob Woolmer's soul rest in peace.

First of all my little friend i must congratulate you for your intrest in the game and with fans such as yourself cricket can never die. I agree with your sentiments but hey there is always hope right ??? and as they say good prevails over the bad no matter it might take a little more time but in the end it wins. So as i am hopeing like the rest of the Cricket fans all over the world i suggest that you should also. Yes cricketers are an insecure lot but it is not the loss which hurts the people of India but the way in which it is lost. A fight should be given as in the game one is a winner and another the looser but it is the manner in which one gives it all to win for the country and such patriotism can onle come with Indianness as no australian will ever understand the side of patriotism we indians have and to ave patriotism for India one has to be an INDIAN FIRST
