that I got from the library. When reading this I got a glimpse of the old ways. I liked this poem, it is a love poem from Edgar Allen Poe about his wife Annabelle Lee. Hope you enjoy!

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me-
Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

This is a very pleasant poem. I wish I could write poerty, but I never had the imagination.
I especially like Australian poems about our landscape.
Here is an example:The Saltbush Plain
Spring's just 'round the corner boys
And shearing's on again
Five million sheep that must be shorn
Out on the saltbush plain
The shearers come from everywhere
From near and far away
To hear once more the whirr of shears
And the shouts of "wool away"From way up north at Longreach
To down south at Warrnambool
They come with one objective
That's to shear away the wool
There's the Guns and there's the Snaggers
The Pressers and the Cooks
The Rousies and the Classers
And the men who keep the books
They're shearing at Eurolie
At Gunbar and Toganmain
At a hundred sheds both big and small
Out on the saltbush plain
As Paterson said before me
Some fifty years ago
The Saltbush Plain is a wonderland
For those that really know
Us shearers feel the same way
That's why we're back again
To get our hands among the wool
Out on the Saltbush Plain
The little pubs like Booligal
Conargo, Carrathool
Are favourite meeting places
Of the men who shear the wool
They gather there on Friday night
To share a glass of brew
To meet old friends, make new ones
And to shear a sheep or two
At every pub, in every town
From Finley out to Hay
They need two Pressers in the bar
To keep the wool away
The learners shear two hundred
And the Rousies top the ton
It's easy shearing in the bar
Where everyone's a Gun
If you've never been a shearer
It's not easy to explain
Why we leave our homes and families
And head for Hay again
But you would know if you've been there
And you've had your comb real full
Way out here on the Saltbush Plain
With your hands amongst the wool
So roll your swags up tight boys
And we'll hit the road for Hay
To hear once more the whirr of shears
And the shouts of "wool away"We'll all pull into gear again
And keep our comb real full
Way out here on the Saltbush Plain
With our hands among the wool

the one thing about Poe is that is poems and stories are always so morose. I wonder what it would have been like to meet him in person and talk to him.

Took me awhile, I knew I had heard this before but couldn't figure it out - 'The Waltons', Grandpa Walton got a statue from the Balwin Ladies and Grandma was all mad about it, Grandpa recited this poem - the statue was 'Annabel Lee'

Your right, I forgot all about that, WOW! I guess I never realized it. This book I got from the library was to teach you how to write poems and they had this poem in their. I just couldn't get it off my mind.
