How does your body show stress? |
|
As a lot of my friends would know I am having a few financial problems at the moment as I lost my job.I am frantically trying to find another one, without much success.I thought I was coping really well with the stress, that is until yesterday.I woke up yesterday morning with a pain between my shoulders,I didn't really think much of it as I thought maybe I had laid funny in bed.So I got my daughter to massage my shoulders.Well the feeling I had in my shoulders just travelled to the front and I felt pressure in my chest.Damn,my reflux started playing up.I haven't had an attack for over two and a half years. It just goes to show that even though I thought I was coping with the stress,I wasn't!

1. mmiller26 (1233) | 3 years ago | When I'm REALLY stressed, I tend to get migraines a lot. And my eye starts to twitch uncontrollbly. It's not noticeable, but I feel it. And it drives me crazy, which adds to my stress.

I find I am more prone to colds if I am stressed and sometimes get headaches. I also find it harder to sleep.
Try to have a lovely relaxing massage from your partner after a hot bath, that should help.

ausnikki (1566) | 3 years ago | A massage sounds lovely but as I don't have a partner it can't happen lol.

Noot54 (4433) | 3 years ago | I too find that prolonged stress depletes my body's natural resistance to horrible things like colds and flu. I just got over the worst case I can recall of flu and it laid me low for about three weeks! I still feel tired and washed out, building back up slowly and taking lots of natural remedies. Two years ago I had reflux so bad the hospitla was convinced I'd had a heart attack (some symptoms are similar!) and they kept me in tw days!
| |
|
|
ausnikki (1566) | 3 years ago | I have had severe reflux like that before and been put on heart monitors because they thought it was heart trouble.Thank goodness I haven't had an attack like that for years.

5. yvonne1968 (796) | 3 years ago | My body doesnt deal with stress very good. Ever since my junior year in high school i was diagosed with what they call IBS, or irritable bowl syndrome. Anytime i get stressed out my IBS kicks my stomachs butt and i am usually sick for 2-3 days depending on how stressed out or upset i am. The only medicine that helps this is muscle relaxers. So i usually just deal with it because when i take the medicine it just puts me to sleep. So i can sleep and work at the same time.

6. kathy77 (6867) | 3 years ago | Yes it is a lot of stress when we have to worry about financial problems, I don't have them but our youngest daughter is having a lot of these problems at this time, so it affect us here as her parents, we know that this is not really her fault as her ex never paid any of the bills in regards to their mortgage. Yes stress can cause all different kinds of pains in our bodies trying to cope with the stress.

7. caramello (2172) | 3 years ago | I have recently been through a stressful time and I had weeks of mouth ulcers, tightness in the neck and to top it off a sty in the eye! lol You hear people say "just relax" it will all be fine, tell my body that! Even meditation to try and switch off does not seem to work. In your situation ausnikki financial problems I think are worse as they only go away when all is cleared and that in itself is easier said than done!

| |
|
|
ausnikki (1566) | 3 years ago | You are so right caramello.I am obviously more stressed than I thought.Just the thought that if I don't get a job soon I will lose my house, makes me cringe.I have been told to "just relax" too, yeah right. How am I supposed to do that?.I haven't even tried to meditate as I am just too agitated at the moment.

8. jan135 (419) | 3 years ago | Yes stress can show up in our bodies in the most unusual places, I too have reflux and it does play up more when I am stressed. Also my excema plays up and all the aches and pains I have normally are just magnified more, it sucks. I do hope you get a job and lower your symptoms of stress, so take care and I hope you feel better soon.

| 9. jmh0601 (17) | 3 years ago | I guess you're really feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders! I can totally agree with your position. I just got fired 3 days ago and I feel the same way. The more it soaks in, the worse I feel. Whether its a fever or I'm sleeping more, its always something. It is usually a cold symptom rather than pain. I have always had this problem. About 3 years ago I moved across the state and my whole body went outta whack! Whether it is acne or a headache that just won't quit, etc. I always feel some bodily response to stress in my life. I wonder if there is a way to cope better?

10. Sarah1977 (369) | 3 years ago | When I am stressed out, I always get really bad headaches. I also become VERY tired, and no matter how much sleep I get, I still feel sleepy. Thankfully, I am not the type of person who worries about things too much (my husband does enough worrying for the both of us).
