Oatmeal Chewie Cookie Mix - Gift In A Jar

Summer is quickly approaching and with it comes those weddings and wedding gifts. Gifts in a jar make great gifts for the new couple. Just tuck a few different kinds together and add a slotted sppon and mixing bowl or measuring cups and spoons. Use your imagaination and you will have a wonderful welcome gift. Dont forget to make some extra for your family because once they taste these, you will not be able to keep them from making more. Enjoy
Oatmeal Chewie Cookie Mix in a Jar
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup lightly packed brown sugar
3/4 cup quick oats
3/4 cup crushed cornflakes cereal (crush before measureing)
1 cup flour mixed with:
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
BROWN SUGAR FROSTING MIX:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
Layer ingredients in order given in a 1 quart wide mouth canning
jar. Press each layer firmly in place.
Add flour mixture in two additions, pressing each addition until
firm.
Put frosting mix ingredients into a ziplock sandwich bag.
Label "FROSTING MIX". Press bag firmly into the jar.
Decorate jar & attach these instructions:
FROSTED OATMEAL CHEWIES COOKIES
Remove frosting mix bag from jar. Set aside.
Empty jar ingredients into large mixing bowl. Blend thoroughly
with a whisk.
Add 3/4 stick ( 6 TBSP ) very soft butter or margarine (NOT diet
or tub).
Mix with a spoon until mostly blended well. Finish mixing with your hands to form a smooth dough.
Shape dough into 1 & 1/4 inch balls. Place on sprayed or lightly greased cookie sheets. Flatten cookie dough with your fingertips.
Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.
Cool 5 minutes on baking sheet & remove to wire rack.
Make frosting: Empty frosting mix into a small bowl. Add 2 TBSP
very soft butter and 1 TBSP water. Mix until smooth. Put some
frosting on each cooledcookie.

Another good one from the mistress of baking. We don't do creole so didn't respond to that discussion. Also why do people put icing on cookies. Not something I look forward to really.

Ohhhh oatmeal cookies are my favorite in the whole world! I have never seen a recipe where you frost them. These sound delish I think I will make some for Easter. Thank you villageanne!
