Recently diagnosed  | |  My 13 year old grandson was recently diagnosed with Bi-Polr Disorder. He was put on Risperdol and after a month will also be taking another medication, not sure of which one yet. HE has ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder also and used to take Statera and Adderal. They did nothing for him except take away his appetite.
Would love to talk to someone who has a young teen on Risperdol now and if there have been any side effects.

My boyfriend's daughter has bi-polar, and her moodswings are off the charts!! He and his ex-wife (her mother) have gotten used to her moods. ONe of the keys is not to take the actions of a bi-poler sufferer personally.

| | | 2. babybug2 (20) | 3 years ago |  Although I have no direct knowledge of this drug, I do know that drugs alone will not solve the problem. There needs to be counseling too. Also, have you gotten a second opinion? If I'm not mistaken ADHD (and not sure about the other) are mere symptoms of Bi Polar. Again, I could be wrong here. I would just hate to see you grandson over-medicated if the Bi Polar medicine helps everything.
