who would make the best American Psycho  | |  American Psycho is one of the greatest masterpieces ever made of all time. Christian Bale performed it with cool, slick expertise. But, if it was up to you to choose another to star in title role who would you pick?I think Christopher walken would've been the perfect Patrick Bateman, if he was a little younger of course!!
What do mylotians think? Yes/no? I don't know. .

Robert is a great actor! Yet I don't think he is PSYCHO enough for this part. Loved him doing mafia work. He EXCELLS in that! Did you like him in the role of Frankie?
Another great actor who I really admire is Dustin Hoffman!

Though I don't beleive it would have been a masterpiece if anyone else would have played Pat. It would have been too comical or too weird if you think of actors like Woody Harelson or Nick Cage would have got the lead. Though I am not too impressed with his acting so far, I feel it would be interesting if Brendan Fraiser played Pat. I feel it could show us some range on his part and maybe some different insight on the character. Who knows it might have made his career skyrocket. Just a thought, there are too many actors to think of. Make some suggestions, I would enjoy hearing some.

The possibilities are endless and preplexing. If you look at it from several different angles (as who to play Pat) you would get an entire different view each time. Bren Fraiser is too much of a pretty boy. He would have turned the character in to something "gayish" & ended up killing boys instead of women.
Nick can NEVER do the psychopath, even if he tried... Did you get the feel that he was evil in (face off)?
Another possible contender, would be JAMES SPADER and or Guy Pearce.
I agree, if AMERICAN PSYCHO had been a major production it would not have reached immortality. It looks cheap, but it's not. The reason I chose (Chris Walken) is because he looks like a wolf in sheep's clothing, if you know what I mean. He has this look in his eyes that tells you "I'm doing my best not to loose my sanity". He can go INSANE in an instant and you get convinced... Along side Chris Bale's, his performance would have made a much convincing Patrick Bateman.
