Ugh, It's that dreaded time of year for me, never fails seasons change and I get sick. Blah! Went to bed feeling great lastnight, but when I got up this morning, it was like someone stuffed a whole lot of cotton up my nose, my throat hurt and I'm a coughing fool at the moment. The thing that sucks the most it's always the colds I get between the transition from cold to warm that are the worst and hardest for me to get over.
I dread coughing anymore today, since my chest is already hurting and the cough medicine I took hours ago doesn't seem to be doing anything, but making me feel drowzy. ERR!!
So am I alone in my suffering this time of year? or are there others like me? What do you do to get over your cold quicker? What do you do to make life a little more liveable during a period of sickness?

I have suffered from cold a lot as I was there in north india for 2 years and it's pretty cold out there. '
Drink lots of fluids, take your vitamins, eat light and healthy foods that are easy to digest, like chicken vege soup of course...
I like cold-eze lozenges if I have to work or be out and about, they help with the stuffiness and sore throat and don't mess up my head.
If I have the luxury of being at home while I nurse my cold, or at night before I go to bed I like to make hot lemonade with a little brandy:Juice of 1 lemon
1 Tb honey
8 oz. very hot water
*tiny* pinch cayenne (optional)
1 Tb. to 1 oz. brandy, qt. depends on time of day
The lemon provides a vitamin c boost, the honey coats your throat, the hot water warms and relaxes you, the cayenne helps you sweat things out if you have a fever and the brandy relaxes you and helps with the muscle aches. And after three of them, if you don't feel better, you don't care!Lemon juice and ginger ale in the same cup will help you regarding your feeling sickness.

Thanks for the home remedy. It will be something I certainly try out. Though I will have to pass on the cayenne, anything that even just hints at being "hot" tasting gives me heartburn these days.
I'm not sure if any of the stores around my area carry Cold-eze lozenges, but it don't hurt to look around.
I went and took a nap, just barely up from it, and feel a bit better. Not coughing so much right now, but my chest still feels like it's on fire and my throat is still slightly screaming at me, but can't complain to much at least the coughing as subsided some. Thanks for responding and I have wrote down the ingredients for the drink.

I would drink A LOT of water in those circumstances and rest as much as possible. I find that this works wonder for "milder" cases. For more serious cases, I am afraid you just have to resort to medicine. :/

So far got the drinking a lot of water and resting part down pat, don't think I have been up longer than an hours time today. Trying to stay away from the medicine as much as I can, cause the over the counter stuff don't work for me, so I usually have to get some prescribed, and that stuff always makes me wonky and would burn the fur off a deer..lol Pretty strong stuff that is.
Though I'm slowly starting to feel better, haven't coughed as much today, and my throat and chest don't feel like they could burn down a whole forest on their own, so I'm making some sort of progress.
Though something good has come of me being sick, I have surely caught up on sleep that was muchly needed. lol

Sorry to hear that your sick hun, I hate colds uggghhhh! I don't think anyone really likes them though! For me I usually drink Neo-Citran at night and when I wake up in the morning I take some advil cold and sinus. I just do that for 2 or 3 days, and then I'll wake up one morning and then poof the cold is gone as quick as it came!

You know, I haven't found a person who likes having a cold either..lol. Geesh you are lucky. I wish my colds during the spring time only lasted 2 or 3 days. Nope, I have to be one that when she gets a cold, she makes sure she gets it good. First time hearing of Neo-Citran. Where can I find that at?
