In Berlin, a german teen-ager reported a break-in at his smashed-up home only for police to discover he had made the mess himself partying with friends while his parents were on holiday. 'The young man hit upon the idea of faking a robbery because he hadn't managed to tidy up before his parents got back,' said a police spokesman. Police said the 16-year-old confessed to the deception under questioning after investigations revealed nothing had been stolen from the wreckage-strewn rooms.
