Remove burn marks

I recently burnt my hand while ironing. There was a deep scar which became even deeper after I accidentally rubbed it against the floor. The scar healed after a long long time leaving a dark elongated spot behind. I have been rubbing lemon on top of it ever since the pain was gone but ended up having the same dark colored spot. Is there any way to lighten the spot? It is very big and looks pretty ugly on my hand. Thanks in advance.
