Danish food

Have you ever tried danish food? I know there're a few danish resturants in New York, and probably also other plces in the world. Ever tried it? Did you like it? I wont blame you if you didn't... I'm not a huge fan myself, and yes I'm from Denmark :-)

Well, I have not been to Denmark but I have been in Northern Germany and had some wonderful Danish cheese and fish. I also had smoked eel. It looks kind of gross but it tasted pretty good. I also had fried fish with whole peeled cooked potatoes and remoulade sauce, I don't know if this was Danish but it was delicious. I also had openfaced sandwiches with all kinds of fish and boiled egg.
Does this sound Danish to you?

I was on a work assignment for four months in Hanover Germany. I had the smoked eel in a little town at the Steinhuder Meer, I forgot the name of the town, but people had stands on the street, selling the smoked eel and other smoked fish.

Yup that's all very danish, and all something I really do like. However a lot of danish food is very fatty, and that I don't like... Amazing that you had all that in nothern germany, especially smoked eel and remoulade are VERY danish, how far north were up in Germany?

Well you probably know sweedish meat balls right? That's very danish (strange really, don't know why americans call it sweedish meat balls). In general danes eat a lot of pork, and that's really what I don't like about danish food. Sausages are very danish as well (especially red ones). And boiled potatoes and very fat brown sauce.

WOW!! You DON'T like Danish food? Tell me, what is it about Danish food that you do not like? I was born in Canada, but my mother was from Denmark. I love Danish food so much that I wrote and published a Danish cookbook! Information can be found here!
