Could Root Canal Treatment Cause Gout, Depression and Other Health Problems??? email this discussion to a friend?

myLot reputation of 94/100. buenavida (1397)   ranked 11 out of 29 in gout3 years ago

I think most of us has heard of the big health problems caused by amalgam fillings in our teeth, but I just read an article written by a Swedish dentist who has been doing research how roots of our teeth, that are no longer alive after root canal treatment, could cause a lot of health problems.

Especially those who have low immunity and elderly people can get lots of symptoms in their whole body. The only way out for the bacteria toxins in the roots is often to follow with the blood stream out into the organs and there they can cause different diseases.

The dentist tells about a 16 year old boy who could hardly move his hands and feet due to arthritis.
After taking away some non live teeth that did not give any symptoms locally, he recovered so much that in a few months he could move almost like a healthy person and was totally pain free.

There are lots of other patients, who have got a completely different life only by extracting the dead teeth, one woman who had high blood pressure, 180/117, got much better in a short time.
Two months after taking away her root canal treated teeth, her blood pressure was 130/70 without medication.

This dentist talks about lots of other symtoms, like stomach problems, depression, anxiety and unnormal fatigue.
These also disappeared with the same treatment.

Those of you who understand Swedish, can go to this site and read about it all:
http://www.naringsrad-naringsron.com/rotfyll.html

If you find anything like this information in English, please let us all get the link.

Has anyone of you any experience of your own, or do you know anyone whose health has improved after extracting root canal treated teeth???

I have two teeth that I want to extract after learning this.
Have you had root canal treatment?

Oh my buena, this is serious! I've had root canal treatment done on one tooth and another might need one...hubby got one done very recently and has three more to go (yup, bad teeth!) Gosh if we fall sick because of this then it's really really weird...I don't understand how dead teeth can cause harm to the body..now you've got me thinking. I sure hope neither of us fall ill or fail to recover because of root canaled teeth!I haven't had nay problems till now though and neither has hubby dear.

Dear greengal, I hope you do some more research - there might be much more information than I have found about this.

Well, dead material attracts bacteria and it is the toxins produced by the bacteria that can cause all these problems unless our immunity is very high.

If it is high, then the infections stay around the roots and the symptoms also stay there.

At least it is possible to get healthier when we extract those teeth. I hope to get rid of the eye infection and sinus problems when I take out the dead teeth on the same side.

No I haven't had a root canal but I have had a couple pulled and lots of fillings.
I did know that your teeth can make you quite sick though.
Some times your teeth can mask themselves as a sinis infection even though it is actually a bad tooth instead.
It is kind of scary to think something as simple as your teeth can make such a big differences in your health but they really can.
I wish I cold read swedish but I can't so I will have to find another way to read that article.
This is a great discusion.
Thanks for bring it up!

Thanks for your comment cherbe, I hope you find an article - there must be some information somewhere - Google search gave 176 results on rootcanaltreatment and there are other search engines as well.
Just take care of your teeth so you don“t need to even decide if to choose root canal treatment.

This is an interesting article and while I'm not claiming it to be good or bad, people need to be aware of their bodies in a wider context. It would make sense that people with low immune systems could have trouble but there are likely to be other factors at play. But not being their physician I can't comment on them. It doesn't pay to make sweeping statements unless you see the person in person and see their whole medical history.

I have 3 root canals, two are no problem at all, but one seems to play up. It's my bottom right 2nd molar - the big tooth that's used to grind steaks! You know the one? I have had it investigated and there is no physical problem with it. It is tension that's causing the trouble. I can't argue with it, because I do hold tension in my jaw.

If you look at your body in a more energetic way, their are two very large/main meridians that are on both sides of the body that go from the groin through the sides of the stomach, over the chest and through and beyond the neck and jaw (teeth included). My right meridian gets blocked. But it's not the tooth that's doing it, it's a larger picture than just that one area.

Depression is definitely caused by blocked and suppressed life force which creates chemical imbalances and then creates all sorts of dis-ease in the body. So teeth problems are only one of many possibilities.

So am grateful that you buenavida cautioned people not to make any rash decisions about having or not having root canal procedures, because sometimes not having enough teeth in your mouth can cause different problems, like low self esteem, difficulty eating, discomfort, which again can cause depression! There's a circle here in the making. Do more reading and look at your health as a whole.

I know it is not an easy desicion just to take away teeth, and of course depressin can be caused by a lot of things.
I have got help from omega3, one of the most important brain foods we can find but health is built from so many things and positive thinking is one of the most important.

Thank you for your contribution to this discussion, there are so many factors that we "ordinary" people are not aware of but may learn a little at a time.

I hope I didn't offend, I re-read my post and thought it could have been misconstrued that I was too forward, apologies if this is so. I am not a physician. I've spent the last 10 years undoing stress in my body and consequently have gained allot of vision. Have read lots and found ways of experiencing what's going on inside me. I totally believe that thoughts create our reality - that's what got me 'twisted' up in the first place. With the help of meditation, cultivation of life force and now diet I'm moving forward. I am an ordinary person, would like to be extraordinary though!

Take care and buenavida.

No problem, all opinions help to build the whole picture and I think we are just scratching the surface.
I wish the authorities would take some interest in this huge problem that so many suffer from.
But like many other things we often have to do research on our own.
There must be a lot of experience among people about root canal treatment and what happened when they took away these teeth and we can only hope that some share their knowledge with us.

you need to read the work of George E Meing, his book root canal cover up and the work of western price. both look at the affect of root cancals on the whole body and the diseases it can cause the books are in english. good luck

I suffer from gout & have done since I was 32,I am now 57, When I was 15 my front teeth were smashed in a hockey game! The result has been a lifetime of dental treatment, with the roots of the teeth being drilled out, crowns fitted & when they failed,a bridge fitted. I have suffered numerous abcesses,a great deal of pain & numerous gout attacks.
I am now suffering a prolonged attack, some 7 weeks & in my desperation to find a solution visited my dentist, who told me I have an infection in my front teeth. I conclude that having tried every conventional cure & recently chinese acupuncture with herbal detox, that my problem is related to the toxins created by my root canaled teeth.I have been visited by depression during this period, but am lucky in that forcing myself to exercise & meditate I am able to overcome this for most of the time.
I am a normally healthy fit person and my work as a gardener helps maintain this.
But despite this I have to admit a fairly common male trait, that of not taking a balanced view of my health in all areas including & especially dental care.I am truly grateful to the contributors of this site in helping me realize where my condition comes from & urge all visitors to take better care of their health, both physical & mental, they are connected & directly related to our self esteem or lack of.Once again Thankyou & I hope this is of some use to readers.

Thanks, Nigel for your response. I do hope you find a solution to your health problem.
I got much better when I let the dentist take away one of my root canal treated teeth. It was infected and might have been that for a long time, even years.
My eye infection that I used to have, is gone for now, I hope it stays away.. rolleyes
I have some great food supplements (GNLD) that boost my immune system and that has probably helped a lot too.
Two of the most important things to keep healthy is to take away as much stress as possible from our lives ans use the right fats that make our cell membrane so soft that it is possible for the nutrition and oxygen to come in and the waist come out. That is what happens in a healthy cell. happy
