Hiccups will start when our diaphragm gets irritated. Some things that irritate the diaphragm are eating too quickly or too much, an irritation in the stomach or the throat, or feeling nervous or excited. But according to medical findings almost all cases of the hiccups will last only a few minutes. Some cases of the hiccups can last for days or weeks, but this is very unusual, and it's usually a sign of another medical problem. Holding your breath and counting from 1 to 10 is one way to get rid of their hiccups. Another is putting sugar under your tongue . And maybe the most famous treatment - having someone jump out and scare you when you're not expecting it...lol (a practice done by my grandparents)

Eating or drinking too quickly gives some people hiccups. Sometimes spicy food, very hot food, or very cold food causes hiccups. I normally drink plenty of water. Some people say that breathing in a paperbag will stop it but that causes dizziness so i dont do that
