What's Wrong with Driving the Speed Limit?

I usually drive the speed limit. I can't honestly say I never speed, but I generally don't. Today, some guy didn't like this and went over the double yellow line and nearly side-swiped me as he passed. I've also gotten the "finger" several times, too, like I was doing it only to bother them. I mean, what's up with that?

I don't think there is anything wrong with driving the speed limit! People going a little over don't really bother me, but those that tail gate do. The ones that really get me are the people who rev up right behind you, swerve in and out of traffic, and basically drive as though they are insane and don't realize they are hurtling a hunk of metal down the road. I often think the only reason people have to drive like that is if someone in the car is in labor or the car is being used in lieu of an ambulance. Otherwise, it is just irresponsible.

He he. I mean, it really doesn't bother me, either if people are going a little bit over. I live on a road that only has two lanes, but it is only for a mile. But, I've had this happen on other roads. Around where I live, there are some people with real serious problems in their lives and they just don't care about any law.

I think there is no problem with the speed limit. I just wish the enforcers would. I agree also they need to educate drivers that bikers have a right to the road. That the cars cant force the bikes off the road. It is very dangerous on many roads because drivers treat the bikers as pedestrians not with a right to travel on the highway.

I agree. On that particular street, they do a lot of speed enforcements. Unfortunately (or fortunately), they're rarely there when I am driving or when stuff like this happens. I try to remember that there is a learning curve to everything. Not everyone learns the same and you'll always have "F" grade drivers out there. Also, I've seen some really strange people driving and I often wonder if they don't have a license to do so.

hihi, finally, someone after my own heart. my preference is also to drive very slowly. I know it annoys people on the road, but I'm sorry I really feel a lot safer driving slowly. Like under the speed limit. or just at the speed limit. especially around bends! I hate travelling at high speeds around bends! it just makes me all nervous and makes me feel out of control. people should be more patient and not be so mean. after all, when i drive slowly, i keep to the slow lane. those folks who want to speed can use the fast lane. there is room for everyone!

Thanks for responding. People seem out of control today. I'm not really griping about someone going a few miles over the speed limit, but people who go as much as 20 MPH over the speed limit and get furious with you if you're not doing the same thing.
