Mine come on suddenly and the only onset symptom is the inability to see correctly. I'd hate to think what would happen if I ever got my licence and was driving when the symptoms started. I'm afraid I'd have an accident.

2. emeraldisle (8978) | 3 years ago | My migraines usuaully build from a headache and if I don't catch it early enough I'm miserable. Now there have been times where they come out of the blue, like someone hit me over the head or shot me but those aren't that often thankfully. All we can do is try to find our triggers and avoid them. We also have to have with us the medicine on hand for when they do hit so we can deal with it. It's miserable I know but what else do we do?

4. mtoxales (256) | 3 years ago | Yesterday and today, I had a headache too. My trigger is sunlight thats blaring to the eyes. Yesterday I took Ibuprofen and it stopped the pain. Today the pain was back and I took paracetamol but the pain did not go away. I took Ibuprofen again and the pain is still there but it's a little bearable. I don't want to be addicted to medicines so I also use a medicated oil to help ease the pain. I just rub the oil to the left or right side of my forehead.

5. robert19ph (3237) | 3 years ago | Lynboobsy11, why don't you try acupuncture? This is healing without medicine. I heard it's good way to relieved stress and pain. Do you know what's causing your migraine? An example is like your stomach, it hurts when it is empty. Your headache might be like that....I am only kidding. If you can find out more what's causing your headache you are sure near a cure.

| 6. pricklechime (11) | 3 years ago | hi lynboobsy, I also have a mild migraine..to share:causes are: stress/too much or lack of sleep/over -intake of caffeinated foods& drinks/menstruation..etc to name a few. And in my case if not for everybody, the best solution is to sleep, the best option for me..I dont frequently take medicines And to avoid the trigger of migraine, try having enough sleep, as much as possible avoid coffee & other caffeinated drinks as well as smoking.

7. rohitssj4 (1305) | 3 years ago | Migraine is a neurological disease[1], of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head. Absent serious head injuries, stroke, and tumors, the recurring severity of the pain indicates a vascular headache rather than a tension headache. Migraines are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
The word migraine is French in origin and comes from the Greek hemicrania, as does the Old English term megrim. Literally, hemicrania means "only half the head".
Migraines are a frustrating chronic illness which is widespread in the population (10% diagnosed, 5% undiagnosed),[2] with seriousness varying from a rare annoyance to a life-threatening daily experience. Treatments are typically expensive. Periodic or unpredictable disability can cause impoverishment due to patients' inability to work enough or to hold a job at all.
Trigger avoidance
Patients can attempt to identify and avoid factors that promote or precipitate migraine episodes. Moderation in alcohol and caffeine intake, consistency in sleep habits, and regular meals may be helpful. Beyond an often pronounced placebo effect, general dietary restriction has not been demonstrated to be an effective approach to treating migraine.[2]
Nonetheless, some people fervently claim that they have successfully identified foods that are likely to result in migraines, and by avoiding them, can decrease the likelihood of an episode.
