Outside of the casinos and the strip what is there to do in Las Vegas?? If you are a native, can you tell us some spots that the natives like to go to? I have heard of people renting mansions for their vacation to Vegas..... what is that all about?

I use to live in Vegas. Besides casinos and the strip, there are a few other things you could look into. You could ski on Mt. Charleston, it's a little ways north of Las Vegas. Plus another good, fun place is Freemont St. called Freemont Street Experience, and it's like a lot of different fun things, like a light show is the main event and then there are also concerts there and some other small side shows. There is also the Las Vegas, Natural History Museum and across the street from that is the Lied Discovery Childrens Museum, if you have children. Also if you go to Vegas in the summer, they do have lots of water parks that you could also go to. Other then that, casinos are just the main thing Las Vegas. Most tourist don't know about all the other hidden sightings, all they really know is the casino life, but if you really look into it, there is stuff to do for just about everyone of all ages. They also had a drive inn movie theater across the street from a casino called Fiesta, they might still have it. It's one of the oldest things in Las Vegas. As for the renting a mansion, I never heard of such a thing. I think that only applies for the stars. LOL! They have all kinds of hotels, some cheap, some very pricey. Not all of the hotels are connected to a casino. Budeget Suites is a nice place to stay in while visiting Vegas. It's nice and clean and very quiet. It's probably the only hotel that isn't a hotel/casino in one and that is really fancy and low priced.
