Does our society still has room for religion?

Years ago in my country, a government sector for youth conducted a survey on religious beliefs, if society's young adults are affected by it. The majority of the result showed that most young people today don't care much about religion and how it affects their daily lives. I think this resulted within the family, their own religious values not being implemented much by the parents thinking that it's of little concern compared to putting food on the table and paying the bills.
With the increasing number of crime rate, moral values are down. It seems that humanity islargely diseased more than we thought...

I think that the world needs something new. A lot of people know that religion isn't true even if they are members of the church.
We need something new to have faith in and to help us live our lives. With the scientific advances now it is obvious that god doesn't exist.

Unless you are brought up in a strict religious family, alot of young people do not chose to follow religion themselves.
Then again, I don't blame them. What is going on in the world today does not put out a good message to be religious, seeing as all wars and conflict is usually based on this.
I have not brought my children up to be religious, but they are not criminals or disrespectful. I have taught them morals and how to be a good member of society. I don't think teaching them about sin, heaven and hell is a good way to deter them from crime as through the centuries of religion it has definately not deterred people, but actually made things worse.
