projections for this year

Well as a Cubs fan I am naturally rooting for the Cubs.:) But I could see the Cards returning this year. I don't know much about the Royals team this year so I guess I will reserve judgment until later in the season. Since I live in Michigan, all I ever hear is about the Tigers. Last years World Series had me rooting for the Cardinals since they are in the same division as the Cubs. And I predicted to my high school students that the Cards would win and sure enough they did. We'll see how this season goes. The nice thing about baseball is that there is always surprises!

I really don't see the Royals even making the playoffs. Over the years they have let premium players get away such as Johnny Damon, Carlos Beltran, Jermaine Dye and so on. They keep thinking they can make stars out of their farm system and win before the young guys become free agents. The need to spend a little more to lock up their good players. Mike Sweeney isn't enough. Not like Yankee spending, but Oakland A's kind of spending. And trust me, I don't like the Oakland A's, so I'm serious. : ) As for the Cardinals, I'm all for a repeat. If they can establish consistent pitching then I believe the offense will fall in place. Go Cards! But good luck to the Royals too. : )
