Is patience a lost virtue?

Everyone is always in such a hurry these days...even with labour saving devices (the internet, microwaves, etc...it seems that we are in a much bigger hurry than ever before and with this hurried atmosphere goes anger at someone that tries to slow them down for one reason or another...

One thing i have always said when someone tells me that i need more patience, is this.
"Patience is a virtue that i just don't want!"
usually i either get someone laughing at me, or I'll get someone going on their little blabber about how i really need to learn some blah blah blah....
See, i have a lot of patience, for things i love, like, want, or otherwise, I have patience for the things that are important in life, and for those unavoidable things..
What i DON'T have patience for, is idiots, stupid people, well, their not even stupid, i just think they LIKE to be stupid, they like to piss people off, and it gets under my skin, and that's when i lose patience.
I'm not in a hurry, i never rush, unless it's for someone that i care about and it's very important.
I do sometimes take shortcuts, but i prefer doing things the old way...
I saw somewhere, i can't remember where that this lady cooked everything half way in the microwave before using the oven or bbq, what do i say to that?
"Umm, your taking away the flavor, and the enjoyment of cooking..."
I'm the kind of person who likes to take her time, cut the grass with a nice regular lawn mower, it eases my stress, rake the leaves, shovel the snow, fork out the hay for the horse rather than leaving the whole bail to rot in the open, let my food defrost on the counter or in the fridge, make my own baby food when I'm taking care of someone's child, and scrub out my stains by hand... I actually even prefer to wash my clothing by hand and hang it in the sunshine to dry, but i don't do it often, because if i did, i wouldn't be able to get anything else done in my house, ever...
I'm the smell the roses type of person, if I'm in a hurry, usually i stop anyway, because you never know what you'll miss, or never get a moment for, I won't regret anything in my life. ever. I won't let myself. So i stop for every precious moment, every beautiful picture, every enveloping scent.
This, Happiness, Is what gives you patience.

you know, I was thinking about this earlier, about how everyone rushes and rushes and rushes around, to get everything done, and how everyone has to be doing 20 million things at one time. I was just thinking about how much easier life would be if everyone just slowed down, and focused on one or two things that they enjoyed, instead of stuffing their lifes so full that they never have a moment to enjoy anything.

I agree. The virtue of patience is slowly diminishing. This is very obvious in the workplace. Some managers or supervisors push their subordinates to do more even to the extent of morale loss. Exhausting and tiring somebody just to accomplish more than what is expected is condemnable. I believe that ALL THINGS CAN WAIT. What should be done today can be done today and what should be done tomorrow can wait for tomorrow. Truly, HASTE MAKES WASTE.
