It depends on what type of antibiotic you are giving him. I know for a fact they give you the lowest dose and when you go in the hospital they can give you that amount plus more IN addition to other antibiotics. I have had to be on them for a long time due to lyme disease and I have to take a higher dosage and so do my did my younger sibs who started taking them at 4 and 7. High doses.

Is he taking Amoxicillin? Amoxicillin is normally given to treat bronchitis. They even state "In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Again as I already stated a toddlers medication dosage is determined by their weight. You gave him tripple the dose. Any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. I'm concerned. I hope your son is ok.

That is frightening! I am sure your little one will be fine, but in case your worried, calling the pharmacist who filled the prescription might be a good idea. He/she would know what the symptoms and effects would be right off the bat. Just keep an eye on the baby and if you see any negative changes in him take him to your doctor or ER ASAP. I am sure after 10 hours he is ok, but it is better to be safe than sorry. Definitely flush his system out with lots of liquids. Still call the pharmacist to consult on when you should start his regular doses back up.

He's probably fine if he's had no reaction after ten hours. The best person to call in this particular instance is the pharmacist. They are much easier to reach in a hurry and are much more knowledgeable about medication side effects, doses and reactions than the doctors.

First of all, in case of an overdose,I think that you should be calling your doctor or calling a hospital and seeking medical attention immediately not asking us what to do. Did you not read the subscription? It could be that the overdose has not affected your child yet. I'm not a medical expert, but make sure that he gets a lot to drink to flush it out and get him to a doctor at once. When you are given a prescription it is based on body weight. An overdose of antibiotics produce abdominal pain, convulsions, diarrhea and nausea, and vomiting.

if nothing has happened yet to him that is unusual and he is appearing normal I wouldn't worry about it Just keep a close eye on him yet for a little bit and see if anything changes with him
