Have you ever written something and just thought "This was terrible."? That's not happened to me so far, but I was just wondering if any writers have had that feeling and could possibly discuss their thoughts about it.

I have half a dozen chapters of a novel I started writing years ago when my life was in a bit of a mess. A few months ago I took a look at teh stuff I'd written and I was horrified at how self-indulgent and whining my writing was.
It was dreadful!
There were some good ideas but it was such a mess. I put it all back in the bottom drawer and I'll return to it again in a few months to see if it's as bad as I currently think it is.
It sucked big time!

What was your novel about? Was it based on your life or were your characters bad?

Definitely. We can't write masterpieces everytime!
I always say that even if it's bad, you're working and producing something and it's all good practice. That's why I never throw writing away, even if it makes me cringe! It's all part of the process! You can always learn from your mistakes.

Yes, I've kept writing pieces too that I wrote years ago, just to compare and notice my flaws. As writers, we can always increase our skill in storytelling as well as language manipulation.

Well, I am working on my first book
I am not a professional writer, but I can tell when something feels right or wrong.
The worst writing piece I have written was one article about fame and money, it was good, but somehow, I let a few grammar mistakes unnoticed until it was published, and I can't edit it or do anything about it. I hate myself for that, but I learnt my lesson.

That has happened to me plenty of times while I was writing.I would be working on a page of my story and I read it back and Im like "crud that was crappy" and I end up deleting the entire page or erasing.
Every writer goes through it so write and rewrite.
