I do not understand why there is a need for marriage. If you love someone and are going to spend the rest of your life with them why do you need a ceremony? Can someone answer?

Sure here are my views on some good reasons to marry. First if you are going to have kids, it's a little easier dealing with the school registrations and to be honest my oldest two children have a different last name than me, and it's pretty difficult at times. Next it can be for insurance purposes. I know some if not all insurance companies will not allow you to add a siginicant other to your health insurance policy, you have to be married in order to provide someone with health insurance, which can be a really big deal. Also in my situation, my hsuband is military so in order for me to have any benefits like being on his life insurance policy, being able to live in the base housing or using the base grocery store we have to be married. Also I didn't need a ceremony but it felt nice to marry my husband.
