I think Life of Pi is a GREAT book! It has such a unique storyline and an encounter with a Bengal tiger really interests me! How the heck was he able to survive out in the open sea with only a Tiger and an Orangutan for company? wow..

The book is truly fantastic. I love how it devotes so much time before being lost at sea explaining his life. I love how the book uses subtle clues to promote opinions of the author. Two examples come to mind. In one section, Pi explains how zoo animals really do lead better lives than wild animals, since they are always protected, have no real cares or pressures, and don't have to wonder where their next meal is coming from or when it will take place. The second is the Christian religion, how it is completely illogical for a father (ANY father) to figure having his son killed due to the misbehaviors of others is remotely rational or correct.
That, and at the end of the book they suggest that the animals represent people in Pi's life on the boat with him. The zebra represented his mother, etc. If you think of the book plot in terms of those people, the story inherently changes.
