what democracy are you talking about? marcos dispersed rallies too but not as violent as that of gma regime. did you have actual experience on what they do on rallies? maybe not, because you just blabber away praising that evil without an idea what she is doing. i experienced both regimes. maybe you are the one who is dumb here!

the desaparacidos now are more than 200 since 2001. if gma has learned her lessons, she will not allow this but this is more than marcos regime. the extra judicial killings in her regime is more than 700 and she is the one responsible for that because she is the president. she said that she is not responsible for these killings but she is praising palparan!

by the way, i have been meaning to ask you how much are they paying you to do this? No one in their right mind will praise or protect somebody who is evil and without soul. our people are dying and nothing is happening to alleviate their suffering. You kept telling us that she is doing something but nothing is felt, nothing is seen, nothing is heard. All her promises are nothing.

Have you attended the women's day celeb where she is the guest of honor? what micro finance is she talking about? you should have seen how upset she was when she learned nothing is happening in her government.

You claim to work for an NGO that helps people. I'm starting to doubt that, because you are not aware of how and where it ALL started. It did NOT start with GMA for crying out loud. Next, i'd like to toss the question back to you, who's paying you for your GMA smear campaign. As i mentioned before, i work as a private consultant for a semiconductors company, i worked as a consultant at ADB, the government would be the last institution in the world to pay me. In fact, i am paying the government that is why i care about where my taxes are going. If there's anybody who should be concerned about this country more, it is me. I pay more taxes than you do, so i have more at stake here. By the way, try refreshing yourself on Philippine history, to keep in touch with a reality. The reason why the country is so left behind is because we do not understand our own history. To say that Marcos is better is such a FARCE. I lived as a child in those days, and i knew what it was to live in fear that any opinion said against the regime could kill you. ALL the negative comments aimed at President Arroyo, published in the Philippines press is crystal clear proof that Democracy is live and alive. I think ALL the political prisoners during Marcos' time would agree that we are more Democratic now than before, and a statement that democracy is worse off today is going to be laughed at at as joke.

I believe that Milasol has her point and everlasting you have your point.. but she did give an opinion.. i think there is no need to curse and conclude here... yes after the marcos regime the philippines was left with so much depression, they even said that Cory Aquino did a terrible job.. why? well people were desperate... i have to be honest.. that i was not even alive then, but according to many( as i consider reference) they say that it was a hard time trying to stand up again after a victorious people power. It was during Ramos' time that things in the philippines got better... as i even remember the dollar was only 20 pesos back then, but when the Estrada Administration took over, sadly the country began to fall apart... after people power 2 Arroyo got her position as president, let us say.. that yes she tried to gain the country's trust but has failed at many angles... as she was reelected.. and the Arroyo Administration was yet again ruling over the country.. this is what they call the false administration.... yes i believe that we can not move forward for many of us cannot see... i will be honest.. that i have not been part of rallies... for simple reasons, but do you think(this question is for everlasting) do you think that all those people rallying know what they are fighting for... i don't think so... maybe out of a thousand... only 100 know what they are really fighting for... even at the simplest form of administration.. let us say a school... tuition fee increased by 7.7%... many students will oppose of this i'm sure... but how many... when a rally was presented at the university i was in a year ago i tried asking everyone if they will be part of the rally, some said yes.. i asked them why... sadly only a few answered me back with the answer i wanted, and that was ofcourse that they were fighting of no tuition fee increase... on the other hand. more students were after escaping classes and having long breaks while the rally continued... same goes for the past rallies i have passed along.. i ask some.. what are you rallying about? they answer me back... they are going to give us something later... to this i agree with what milasol answered that we should be well educated of what we are tyring to solve before taking action... try to find its greatest weakness... but i still say that the marcos regime was better...

Hi Renbace. I checked out your age, 18? is that right? Obviously you weren't born yet back in those days. I hope you don't get me wrong, but i hope your elders told you exactly what life was like back then. Back then, people could hardly speak up and say anything against the regime. It is hard to imagine how things were in those times. About tuition fee increase, price of commodities, well this is due mostly because the the price of oil in the world market. For tuition fees of course, a university needs cash in order to maintain its buildings, pay an increasing number of teachers, fund researches, basically, to upgrade the level of teaching, thus this also contributes to the increase. Things seem to be worse now because of the compounding effect of wrong economic policies that were implemented in previous administrations. Imagine a foreign debt that increased significantly during Marcos' time, whose interest in itself, is so difficult to pay. Imagine a politicized military which feels that it has the solemn right to seize power. As i said earlier, let us understand history. History is not just about memorizing dates or names, more importantly, it is about understanding the WHY's and HOW's. Happy Easter!

yeah... i wasn't born back then... according to some documentaries i watched before.. they said the country was running good at first.. then it just turned up ugly in the end.. then i just asked my folks currently.. and yeah you were right... i would now prefer the GMA Administration... at least democracy is still present... and filipinos can still breathe... without thinking of harm or worst.. death... i've heard.. that once a government official wanted to kill you.. it would be instantly... thanks for your very great point.. and lesson.. i hope others would listen to you as well.. and learn....i've realized a lot for the past years i lived back in the philippines.. many do not listen anymore... they don't tend to understand... they take action before even analyzing....that is why we fail in many things... i've been contradicted many times here in mylot for my theory.. i feel pity for them... thanks anyhow..... i think that the present generations and the future generations to come.. are not well... dumb... i think i have to disagree with that statement... its just now that i have reflected on that statement... i think it is the older generation that should be called with the word in question... One thing i have reflected upon and realized.. is that we were taught by many mentors to be blinded about political state of the philippines.. i remember many of my past mentors do such... and many of their students have noticed it as well.. i think not dumb.. but blinded... i think that would suit more...

Please back up your claims with data. All you are saying is hearsay that even the PCIJ would not care to investigate your claim that GMA used the money elsewhere. Hmmmm....leaders in Asia respected Marcos but look down upon GMA.....no proof again. Lets be objective and be level headed here. I honestly do not know where you are getting these ideas. Wo-wo-wo! I hope I did not create intrigue with the kind of topic that I posted. All of you (everlasting, milasol plus renabace) though differ in views have one thing in common. Your concern and love for our country are very evident. Mabuhay kayo! I hope one day and I pray that all of us be united and stand as one to lift our beloved country and make it great again!
