I'm Having Problems Finding Star Trek on TV! What Is With Spike, G4 and TVLand?

Recently I read a little article that said that G4 had heard from their viewers about needing some original series, and that they intend to run STOS on weekdays at 9am. What...the...heck....are they thinking?! I know that TV Land now airs the Original Series at 5Am-6am (sometimes) and 6am-7am (many weekdays) but I keep missing G4's airings and Spike seems to keep smashing them down the time slots! Every time I think I've got it right, it's changed again. I'm beginning to get fed up again, and will probably go back to viewing them on DVD. But that takes all the fun out of it! Sometimes I just want to see an episode that I didn't plan on - as a surprise. I also like to listen to it in the background while I work. It really does make the time go by faster. I love any old Star Trek (From STOS to Ent) and feel much more calm when I know that I will have a nice episode to sit back and watch. The only other series that gives me that nostalgic but tranquilized feel is M*A*S*H*. Somehow Alan Alda's voice is nearly as soothing as Shatner's, Mulgrew's and Stewart's. Ehhhh... I miss having it on everyday at the same time... How about you?

Yes. Star Trek is meant to be a ritual. People don't understand that. It's something people like us grew up with. I've been watching it in one incarnation or another for 3/4 of my life. Flipping the channel to it as 6 or 9 or 10 is like coming home and finding an old friend waiting for you at the end of the day. It's jarring when you change the channel and they've moved it.

I have a local TV station in my area that used to air repeats of Star Trek: The Next Generation, but I'm not sure if they still do. I remember that (in my area) WPIX, what is now WB-11 used to show repeats of The Original for years back in the 1970's, & probably the 1980's also. THen they were showing Next Generation as a new series, & then Deep Space Nine. Even after the final episode of TNG, they still continued showing repeats followed by a new DS9 episode. They ended up showing Voyager on a channel that Paramount was pretty much renting the air time on (Channel 9). There was some kind of deal in which Paramount was going to rent prime time airtime on channel 11, & WB was going to do the same with channel 9, but something happened & things got switched around. So far, the only time I know of catching these episodes are when they have these holiday marathons, although Sci-Fi has started showing the episodes of ENT. However, I still prefer watching my own collection.

I've never been a fan of the Hallmark channel, but they used to air Star Trek: Voyager episodes at a convenient late afternoon time, which was great, until they replaced it with one of their usual murder dramas. I was totally incensed, and did not watch any of the series until I got the DVD versions.
