Are "eventual" holidays too commercialised? |
|
Christmas is no sooner gone and Valentine's Day is promoted. No sooner has Valentine's Day passed and Easter eggs are all over the place! Then of course we get little break and it's...your right..but take nothing away from them.. Mothers Day! The straight into Fathers Day a short time later again! Hell LOOK OUT.... lol.. it's Christmas again! There are no doubt more... feel free to add them from your part of myLotia haha, and the amount of advertising and socially projected responsibilities that go along with these occassions, I feel it takes away much of the joy which should accompany these times. What do other mylotians think about these thoughts?

I'm with you I think that all of these commercialized holidays take away from the joy and spirituality of them. I dont know how to fix it though or even if anyone wants it fixed:( Any ideas?

Maybe one idea is to go back to basics and reform the present way and topics we teach our young, as we didn't get here overnight, and the fix can't be expected to be instantaneous... but can have a multiple benefits effect! Imagine our young learning life skills like constructive communication, conflict management and the value of true self worth just to name a few! Oppps, gone of onto a beaten track again.. lol must be getting late...yep.. after mid-night! Have a great day!

I do agree that as soon as one "holiday" is over, they set up for the next one, as though we need reminded. And there's July 4th, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. Gobble gobble. Too much advertising, but it might not be so bad if they waited until it was closer to that occasion.

The_Eagle_1 (679) | 1 year ago | A fair contribution to the list of occasions, lol.. I'd even forgottrn about a couple of them!! If the manufacturers of the products concerned with these occasions waited, I suspect they believe they would miss out on sales!! lol..Have a great day!
